Nxtbook Media does not close during inclement weather, however Nxtbook Media recognizes that individuals will have different comfort levels with regards to travel during inclement weather. It is up to each individual to come in to work or depart as they see fit, based on their level of comfort and with safety in mind. Employees do not need permission to come in late or leave early due to inclement weather. However, they are responsible for notifying both their department and the Office Administrator when they are leaving early or arriving late. The employee has the option of making up the time in the following manner:

Work from home. Employees who are able to effectively perform all functions of their job remotely may work from home during inclement weather. It is expected that any employee who works from home will devote their full time and attention to their regular job responsibilities and that productivity / effectiveness will not be negatively impacted. Employees working from home must be reachable by telephone and e-mail during agreed upon work from home hours. Individuals must be able to make and receive telephone calls, access email, and be easily accessible to co-workers and clients. It is the responsibility of the employee to notify the company of any preferred communication methods during work from home hours (e.g. cell phone, home telephone, etc.)

Make up the time. It is important to do so within 7 calendar days from the date of occurrence. For example: If you miss Tuesday, you must make up that time by the end of the day the following Tuesday.

Take the time as PTO time, based on current PTO guidelines. If you have extenuating circumstances such as several days of inclement weather in one week, please see Human Resources for additional makeup time.
