All electronic and telephonic communication systems and all communications and information transmitted by, received from, or stored in these systems are the property of Nxtbook Media, and, as such, are to be used solely for job-related purposes. Personal use of any software or business equipment, including without limitation facsimiles, photocopiers, computers, the Company’s E-mail system, the Internet, and copy machines, for private purposes, should be kept to a minimum or done during the employee’s personal, unpaid time.
Employees using electronic or telephonic communication equipment for personal purposes should do so with no expectation of privacy. Employees are not permitted to use a pass code, access a file, or retrieve any stored communication unless authorized to do so or unless they have received prior clearance from an authorized Nxtbook Media representative. All pass codes are the property of Nxtbook Media.
No employee may use a pass code or voice-mail access code that has not been issued to that employee or that is unknown to Nxtbook Media. Improper use of any electronic or telephonic system (e.g., spreading offensive jokes or remarks) will not be tolerated. Employees who violate this policy are subject to disciplinary action, up to and including discharge from employment.
Nxtbook Media strives to maintain a workplace free from harassment and sensitive to the diversity of its employees. The use of computers, e-mail and voice mail in ways that are disruptive or offensive to others, or harmful to morale is prohibited. For example, the display or transmission of sexually explicit images, messages and cartoons is not permitted. Other such misuses include without limitation, ethnic slurs, racial comments, off-color jokes, or anything that may be construed as harassment or showing disrespect for others. Computers, e-mail and voice mail may not be used to solicit others for commercial ventures, religious or political causes, outside organizations or other non-business matters.
Nxtbook Media will share no responsibility for incidents of harassment, sexual harassment, slander, malice, defamation of character, invasion of privacy or other civil or criminal actions that occur or are alleged to have occurred through the personal use of Nxtbook Media electronic media. The responsibility for and the defense against such actions or claims is solely that of the individual(s) involved.
Employees should have no expectation of privacy in Nxtbook Media electronic and telephonic communication systems. To ensure that the use of electronic and telephonic communications systems and business equipment is consistent with Nxtbook Media’s legitimate business interests, Nxtbook Media reserves the right to, and authorized representatives of Nxtbook Media may, monitor the use of such equipment from time to time. This includes monitoring Internet and E-mail usage of any kind. This may also include listening to stored voice-mail messages.
Nxtbook Media provides access to the Internet. The Internet represents a useful tool for the Company in conducting its business, but like any other tool, it must be used properly. For purposes of this policy, the term “Internet” includes any public electronic data communications network, including Internet E-mail and attachments. Use of the Internet includes all restrictions that apply generally to the use of the Company’s E-mail and other electronic and telephonic equipment as noted above.
Violations of this policy will not be tolerated, and may lead to discipline up to and including discharge.
