The 13th annual PGM Internship Conference took place in late July at Essex County Country Club in West Orange, New Jersey. Organized by the PGA of America and sponsored by the Association’s Official Staff Uniform Supplier, Fairway & Greene, the conference provided an opportunity for PGM Students to network with their peers across different universities, as well as network with PGA of America Golf Professionals and other high-level industry professionals. With 72 students attending, it was the largest event yet.
“We want to give the students an opportunity to take a breath, to enjoy a day together and to meet new people,” said Brian Soulé, PGA, Assistant Director of the Penn State PGM Program.
The event drew top PGA Professionals (pictured) and industry professionals from across the U.S. It was hosted by Don McCabe, PGA, Head Golf Professional at Essex County Country Club, co-directed by Soulé and Reed Lansinger, PGA, Director of Golf at Canoe Brook Country Club, and welcomed guest speaker Bryan Karns, 2025 Ryder Cup Championship Director.
PGA of America Career Consultants Joe Doughty, PGA; Jonathan Gold, PGA; and Doug Wert, PGA, contributed their expertise to the event, along with leading PGA Section Directors, PGM Program Directors and Internship Directors.
“Getting the kids together with the networking opportunities that I was lucky enough to enjoy when I was a younger student and paying it forward a bit makes this event important,” said Lansinger.
Added Wert, “I think it’s really important for us to spend time with the future members of our Association and help them to continue to build passion for what they’re going to be doing, as well as get them to where they want to be.”
