Congratulations to SCPGA Associate Ryann Ree (Candlewood Country Club), who claimed victory at the 2025 APA Championship, hosted at Friendly Hills Country Club, thanks to an incredible 58 shot in Round 1. Ree’s extraordinary round stands as the lowest known score recorded in the 101-year history of the Southern California PGA Section. This historic achievement also sets a new course record at Friendly Hills Country Club and will be honored with a plaque dedication in the coming weeks.
The Southern California Section continues to participate in the GCSAA / PGA Grassroots Ambassador program, with close to 40 Section Members participating as Ambassadors. Recent meetings have been conducted with State Senator Steve Padilla (with Ambassadors OJ Amaya and Nikki Gatch); Assemblymember Kate Sanchez (with Ambassadors Shawn Larson and Peter Wininger); and later in September, the SCPGA will assist Assemblymember Blanca Rubio with her “Birdie Bash” at Glen Oaks Golf Course in Glendora.
