The Metropolitan PGA Section’s 4th Annual Birdie Bash was held at Silvermine Golf Club and Towers Country Club, bringing together 34 teams of PGA Professionals for a full day of golf and fundraising.
Each team played 72 holes in a single day with the goal of making as many birdies as possible. In total, the professionals recorded 1,469 birdies and raised over $322,000 for the Metropolitan Section PGA Foundation and PlayYellow initiatives benefiting Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital in Westchester and Cohen Children’s Medical Center on Long Island.
Adding to the excitement were special guests Jeff McNeil, New York Mets second baseman and Metropolitan PGA Foundation Ambassador, and Adam Fox, New York Rangers defenseman. Who took time out of their busy schedules to participate and contribute to the cause.
Throughout the event, players also had the opportunity to interact with children and families from the hospitals, who cheered on the professionals and brought a special energy to the day.
With the continued generosity of donors and sponsors, the Birdie Bash has now contributed over $1 million in just four years to support children’s hospitals in the area.
Pete Ballo of Connecticut Golf Club continued his outstanding summer with a stellar performance at Trump National Westchester, winning the Metropolitan Professional Championship with an impressive 12-under-par finish.
With the victory, Ballo earned his spot in the 2026 PGA Professional Championship at Bandon Dunes, alongside the following Metropolitan PGA Professionals who also qualified:

● Connor Costello (Garden City GC)
● Chris Gabriele (Quaker Ridge CC)
● Craig Hocknull (Westchester CC)

● Zach Staub (Silo Ridge Field Club)
● Shea Wolfle (Tamarack CC)
They will be joined in April 2026 by five Met PGA Professionals already exempt into the field:
