Growing the Game Together: WNYPGA and DICK’S Sporting Goods, Inc. Host Memorable Kid’s Day
The Western New York Section is thrilled to announce a transformative new chapter for our region as DICK’S Sporting Goods, Inc. has officially joined the Section as a Title Partner. To celebrate this landmark collaboration, we didn't just host a clinic; we launched a synchronized, section wide "Kid’s Day" that spanned three cities and two states simultaneously.
On Saturday, April 18th, the WNYPGA and DICK’S House of Sport (DHOS) and DICK’S Sporting Goods (DSG) showcased the power of their partnership by hosting events across our Section boundaries. The choice of venues highlighted both the history and the future of the DSG brand:
● DHOS Amherst: Our newest local landmark, the brand new DICK’S House of Sport.
● DHOS Victor: The historic first of its kind House of Sport location that redefined the retail experience.
● DSG Erie: Extending the reach to our vital Pennsylvania golfing community.
The energy was electric as 90 children across the three locations took to the turf. To ensure the experience was high success and low intimidation, the clinics utilized S.N.A.G. (Starting New At Golf) gear. The oversized, colorful equipment and "sticky" targets allowed the kids to focus on the joy of the game, turning fundamental swing mechanics into an afternoon of play.
The success of an initiative this size rests entirely on the shoulders of the Professionals who volunteer their time to grow the game. We are incredibly grateful to the following WNYPGA Professionals who led the instruction at each site.

"Seeing the synchronization of these three locations happening all at once was a testament to what this Title Partnership can achieve," noted Tori Schiro, WNYPGA Executive Director. "By leveraging the incredible House of Sport facilities and our talented PGA Professionals, we are making golf more visible to families than ever before."
This Kid’s Day serves as a powerful opening drive for our relationship with DICK’S Sporting Goods. As a Title Partner, their commitment to the WNYPGA allows us to enhance our programming and support our Professionals while fostering a more inclusive environment for the next generation of golfers.
