The Southern California PGA was privileged to host the 2026 Spring Teaching and Coaching Summit at the TaylorMade Kingdom in Carlsbad, CA. Over 80 PGA Members and Associates attended the event, where they learned from some of the best instructors and club fitters in the business, as well as received a tour of the TaylorMade Headquarters.
Thank you to keynote speakers Brady Riggs, PGA, along with LPGA Tour Champion Yani Tseng, and to presenters Duane Anderson, Scott Lynn, and Eero Niemela, PGA, for sharing their insight and knowledge with the attendees.

Congratulations to the 2026 Southern California PGA E-Z-GO Professional-Official-Superintendent Championship winners, The Farms Golf Club, who came in at 16-under-par.
Rams Hill Golf Club provided a stunning backdrop for the annual tournament, where Southern California’s premier clubs met under ideal spring conditions. Beyond the competition, the event serves as a vital platform for PGA Professionals to compete alongside their Superintendents and key facility staff and leadership, celebrating the teamwork that keeps their courses in championship form.
The eighteen-hole Modified Four-Ball Stroke Play Event ended with The Farms Golf Club atop the leaderboard with Scott Heyn, PGA, Jack Allen, PGA, Troy Mullane, and Jim Ballard taking home the 1st place prize hardware along with custom champion packages from Vortex Golf, Signs by the Sea, and Maui Jim Sunglasses.

On Monday, April 13th, the SCPGA Foundation hosted the 3rd annual PGA HOPE Monarch Charity Golf Tournament and concert at the beautiful Monarch Beach Golf Links. The sold-out event raised funds for the SCPGA’s PGA HOPE program, which introduces golf to veterans with disabilities to enhance their physical, mental, social, and emotional well-being.
Huge thanks to SCPGA Foundation Chairman Eric Lohman, PGA, and Jackie Riegle, PGA, for their continued support of this event, as each year we continue to raise the bar!

The Southern California PGA is excited to announce the appointment of Darren Merrihew as the Section’s new Partnership Manager. Merrihew joins the SCPGA with over a decade of sales and leadership experience, primarily in the golf business, most notably serving as the General Manager at facilities such as Dove Canyon, Recreation Park, and Coyote Hills.
In his new role as Partnership Manager, Merrihew will leverage his extensive background to enhance SCPGA partnerships and provide measurable results for the Section’s members and associates. His proven ability and track record to manage relationships will be a huge asset to the Section as it continues to grow in partnership endeavors.
