The Connecticut Section Spring Meeting and Education Forum was successfully completed on April 14 at Wampanoag Country Club in West Hartford, Conn. Agenda topics included Officer and Executive Director Reports, presentations from Allied Association representatives including District 1 Director Micheal Behan, and an engaging education forum.
During his report, Executive Director Dennis Dungee utilized MentiMeter to survey and interact with the membership regarding section and national member services and interests.
Section Member and Director of the Travelers Championship Nathan Grube gave his insight into the PGA TOUR and why the Travelers is viewed in such high regard.
Keynote Speaker Brendon Walsh, former Head Professional at The Country Club in Brookline, Mass. spoke to topics such as leadership, culture building, and the hiring process. Over the course of his presentation, he interacted with the membership and spoke to his methods regarding his interview process, accountability, communications, and providing and seeking regular performance evaluations.
Entering year two of its agreement to operate the City of Hartford’s Keney Park Golf Course, the section is eager to continue as leaders in the business of golf. The operation has quickly become a major revenue source for the section while providing a breeding ground for up-and-coming golf professionals. The section will continue to have its eye on future management operations as it seeks to deepen its impact as a leader in the golfing community.
A special shoutout to C.J. Konkowski of Hartford Golf Club, Chris Tallman of GREATHORSE, Jordan Gosler of Manchester Country Club and Jason Gobleck of Lyman Orchards Golf Center as they prepare to compete in the PGA Professional Championship.
