It’s Championship season at the PGA of America and with the Senior PGA Championship, PGA Professional Championship presented by Club Car, Corebridge Financial and Rolex, and PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship now in the books, as we head to Pennsylvania. The 108th edition of the PGA Championship will take place near Philadelphia at acclaimed Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square from May 11-17.
Thanks to our broadcast partners – USA Sports/ Golf Channel, NBC Sports and Peacock, we have enjoyed a terrific platform to share compelling golf industry storylines while highlighting the positive influence PGA of America Golf Professionals have throughout their communities.
Now, in conjunction with our PGA Championship broadcast partners CBS Sports and ESPN, we have an opportunity to showcase the stories of our inspiring PGA of America Members and incredible player development programs to a global audience, alongside major championship coverage.
This month’s cover story in PGA Magazine profiles the PGA Championship, exploring all aspects of the event and its tremendous impact on the Philadelphia market and surrounding area. It also previews this year’s strongest field in golf, and reflects on World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler’s first PGA Championship victory – one of his four majors (through 2025) – at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, last May.
This year marks a return to historic Aronimink, which previously hosted the 1962 PGA Championship (won by Gary Player), 2020 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship (Sei Young Kim) and 2003 Senior PGA Championship (John Jacobs). More than 200,000 spectators are expected to attend this year, as Philadelphia-area fans are passionate about golf and have long supported PGA of America events. In fact, fans in attendance, as well as those watching around the world, will not only get to see a major championship featuring the most top 100 world-ranked players, but the strongest field in professional golf based on Official World Golf Rankings.
A centerpiece of every PGA Championship is our Corebridge Financial Team. Twenty of the most accomplished players among our more than 30,000 PGA of America Golf Professionals have earned a spot in this year’s field and will live out a dream playing on the greatest stage in professional golf and against the best golfers on the planet. These PGA of America Members will represent the Association at the highest level, and I encourage you to follow their journey. They are our peers – exceptional players who maintain the form necessary to compete at an elite level, while also balancing their professional careers.
Since 1916, the Wanamaker Trophy has been hoisted by legends of the game like Jack Nicklaus, Walter Hagen and Tiger Woods, as well as today’s brightest stars in Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas and Brooks Koepka. The PGA Championship holds a unique place in the game as the only major championship for professionals, by professionals – showcasing the PGA of America Golf Professionals who are the backbone of the sport.
Broadcast to 164 countries and territories and reaching more than half a billion households, the PGA Championship provides a global stage to tell our story – shining a bright light on our profession and the dedicated individuals who drive the game forward and inspire others every day.
