For the first time ever, a team from The Ronny Golf Park at PGA Frisco will represent the Northern Texas Section at this year’s Secretary’s Cup. Jason Ogilvie, Mary Wine, Foster Veronda, and Michael Powell all graduated from the same PGA HOPE Program last fall, with Hanna Dickens, PGA instructor at The Ronny Golf Park, as one of their lead instructors. Skill level aside, Dickens built this team based on good vibes, strong camaraderie, and a passion for golf. The stellar golf they can all play is a bonus to the amazing people they are and the great friendship they have with one another.
Rooted in tradition, connection, and personal growth, this four-member team represents the diverse paths that lead to a shared love of the game. Ogilivie’s journey began at just five years old on a golf course in East Dallas, where his grandfather, a WWII veteran, built clubs by hand and passed down not only a passion for the game but a lifelong family tradition. Golf has shaped his character, strengthened family bonds, and even inspired him to build his own makeshift 18-hole course, “OG Fairways,” during his second deployment in Iraq to provide fellow soldiers a mental escape before missions. Wine discovered the game more recently in 2023 after realizing she didn’t want to miss out on the experiences and camaraderie golf provides. What began as a personal challenge quickly became a meaningful outlet. Expanding her social network, encouraging reflection, and reinforcing her belief that golf is the ultimate equalizer. Veronda grew up with the game, following in his father’s footsteps and competing on his high school golf team. For him, golf remains a steady connection point to family and friends, with his favorite rounds played alongside a great group. Powell entered the game
in July 2025 after retiring from law enforcement, inspired by his daughter and motivated to find both family time and a new challenge.
Golf has provided renewed purpose, meaningful interaction, and the ongoing pursuit of improvement. Together, this team reflects what makes the game special—tradition, camaraderie, resilience, and the belief that golf truly is for everyone.

The Randy Smith Tour had its inaugural event on Sunday, April 19. The goal was to provide a beginner-friendly, non-competitive environment for NTPGA Junior Tour members ages 6-12. A point of emphasis is to have a fun, welcoming, and low-pressure introduction to tournament golf.
The tour's namesake, Randy Smith, PGA director of instruction at Royal Oaks Country Club, was at the event to offer wise words to the players. When asked what lesson he would give to kids of this age learning golf, he said, "Have fun. If you're not having fun, you're not going to do it again. If you get comfortable and enjoy what you're doing, all of a sudden it's a game for a lifetime." Smith also emphasized the importance of learning golf the right way, which led to his final word of advice to the players, “Smile.”
The free-to-play tour continues on May 19 and has nine more events throughout the year.

Gabe Reynolds, PGA director of instruction at Topgolf - Dallas, and Corey Roberson, PGA director of golf at Lakewood Country Club, claimed the GT Golf Supply Pro-Pro Championship title after firing a final round 64. The 36-hole Four-Ball Stroke Play Championship was conducted at Southern Trace Country Club.
The team carded rounds of 65-64–129, to finish at 15-under-par, overcoming a four-shot deficit from round one. Two bogey-free rounds kept the duo steady, while making birdies when they presented themselves.
“Our goal was to get off to a good start and get settled into the round, and about halfway through the round, I looked at the leaderboard and realized we were gaining some traction,” said Roberson. Their plan worked to perfection as they birdied five of seven holes starting on hole number eight.
In the Senior Division, Dan Walden, PGA head professional at Texas Star Golf Course, and Kevin Golding, PGA director of golf at The Lakes at Castle Hills, led from start to finish to claim the victory. They carded rounds of 64-65–129, 15-under-par, to win by one.
The pair made birdie on the first two holes of the tournament and never
looked back. They finished the first round with a two-stroke lead and never gave it up.
Walden now has a win in both the Open and Senior Divisions of this Championship. “Dan and I have known each other for 20 plus years, so it was super cool to win one together,” said Golding.
Brian Norman, PGA instructor at Lakewood Country Club, and Bobby Massa (a) earned the 2026 Srixon / Cleveland Golf Pro-Scratch Championship title after a record-breaking 22-under-par. It marks back-to-back Pro-Scratch Championship victories and their third victory in four attempts.
The duo carded rounds of 62-60–132, going wire-to-wire to secure the victory by five strokes. An 8-under-par stretch spanning from the seventh to the 13th hole fueled a dominant final round.
“I think after we made eagle on the par five, 13, we knew we were moving along pretty good,” said Massa (a). Bobby refers to last year’s championship, where the two battled their way into a playoff, saying, “It was a much more enjoyable last four holes this time around.”
In the Senior Division, Tim Brown, PGA head professional at Dallas Athletic Club, and Jeff Gibralter (a) defended their home turf. They carded rounds of 65-67–132, 12-under-par, to win by one.
Starting the final round with a one-stroke lead, the duo stretched the lead
to six before the afternoon wave took the course. After a lengthy afternoon wait, their score held up, crowning them champions.
The two added how incredible it is to win at their home course, “It makes it 100% more special for us to win here versus anywhere else. It’s nice to perform well in front of your friends and other members,” said Gibralter (a).
In his closing remarks, Brown stated, “It is a pleasure to work at Dallas Athletic Club. Driving through the gate every morning, I’m reminded it is the greatest country club in America.”
