The PGA of America has announced Jim Furyk will serve as Captain of the United States Ryder Cup Team for the 46th Ryder Cup, to be played Sept. 13–19, 2027, at Adare Manor in Limerick, Ireland.
Since making his Ryder Cup debut as a player in 1997, Furyk has represented the U.S. in 14 consecutive editions of the Ryder Cup, serving as a player, Vice Captain and Captain. The West Chester, Pennsylvania, native becomes the ninth person to captain multiple U.S. Ryder Cup teams after previously leading the Americans in 2018 at Le Golf National in France.
“Jim Furyk has been an influential figure in the United States team room for nearly three decades,” says Nathan Charnes, PGA of America Vice President. “He is a trusted, widely-respected leader and possesses a wealth of Ryder Cup experience that can only serve to strengthen our team.
“Competing in Ryder Cups hosted in Europe presents unique challenges, and we are confident in Jim’s leadership to guide the U.S. Team over the next two years as we prepare for Ireland.”
The 55-year-old Furyk played in nine consecutive Ryder Cups (1997, 1999, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014). His nine appearances as a player rank second all-time in U.S. Ryder Cup history, while his 34 career matches are tied for third. He has served as a Vice Captain on four occasions, including during U.S. victories at Hazeltine National Golf Club in 2016 and at Whistling Straits in 2021.

Furyk also competed in seven consecutive Presidents Cups (1998, 2000, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2011) and captained the U.S. Team to a 18.5-11.5 victory in the 2024 Presidents Cup at Royal Montreal Golf Club. Additionally, Furyk has registered 29 career professional victories, including the 2003 U.S. Open at Olympia Fields, 17 wins on the PGA TOUR and three PGA Tour Champions victories.
PGA of America Members can potentially earn up to $1,500 for the 2025–26 plan year by accumulating points through their involvement in 16 approved PGA of America activities across multiple career paths.
