With a 2-under-par 70, PGA of America Associate Matt Campbell edged Eric Manning, PGA by one stroke at the Turning Stone Resort Casino Pro-Am Series event May 18 at the Shenendoah Course.
Campbell birdied two of his last three holes to finish atop the leaderboard for his second straight win this young season. Campbell (Teugega CC) won the Spring Pro-Pro/Pro-Individual Tournament on May 11 at Cazenovia Country Club.
Playing with members of Teugega CC made the day even more enjoyable for Campbell.
“The team events are always so fun to go and play in with members,” he said. “The Central New York staff does an amazing job running the events.”
Campbell recorded four birdies against two bogeys to finish one shot ahead of Manning (Elm Tree GC), who carded a 1-under-par 71.
“I hit the ball very well but the putter was ice cold all day,” Campbell said. “So I would say ball striking was the biggest deciding factor today.”
RESULTS
In the Team Contest, Manning led Elm Tree’s foursome to a first-place finish with a 15-under 129. Manning was joined by amateurs Chris Griffin, Frank Suits and Eric Schneider.
Tim Hume, PGA (McConnellsville GC), the reigning Section and Senior Player of the Year, finished third overall and placed first in the Senior Division with an even-par 72. McConnellsville took second place in the Team Contest.
Playing conditions were superb as golfers enjoyed competing under sunny skies in the first Turning Stone Resort Casino Pro-Am Series event of 2026.

PGA of America Golf Professional Tim Hume enjoyed a memorable 2025 season.
Hume, the Head Professional at McConnellsville Golf Club, joined an elite club by winning the Central New York PGA Section Player of the Year and Senior Player of the Year. The Section’s Player of the Year Awards are presented by Rolex.
“Winning those meant a lot,” Hume said. “There are a lot of great players in this Section. I finally reached a goal. One goal was to win the senior award. Then here I am winning both. It was great.”
The 64-year-old Hume (McConnellsville GC) won the Rocky Kelly Pro-Junior Tournament, which is one of his favorite events. He also finished tied for second at the CNY Open. He tied for third at two CNY PGA majors: the Section Championship and the Performance Harley-Davidson Stroke Play Championship.
Two years ago, Hume considered a golf position at St. Lawrence. But McConnellsville owner Todd Bowman and head superintendent John Shannon convinced Hume to take the Head Professional at their club.
Hume lives in an apartment on the 8th green at McConnellsville during the summer golf season then works in the winter at Plantation on Crystal River in Florida.
Here’s what Hume, a Buffalo native, had to say about his golf journey.
On joining the CNY PGA Section: This Section is so much more friendly. It’s more of a closer knit group than in Florida. The people here…it’s more of community and that’s what I grew up with.
Most rewarding part about being a PGA Professional: Growing membership I’d say that’s the most rewarding. And making sure they have fun. I enjoy when they come in and are smiling. I think being with the other PGA pros and learning new things is rewarding too. I always want to learn. I can ask others when we’re playing ‘How can I improve?’, not just in my game but how can I improve at the club and help grow the game. That’s the goal.
On his playing success in 2025: I try to get as much practice in as I can. When I’m out there, I just trying to focus. I might be a friendly guy but out there I try focus as much as possible when I’m playing. That and just hard work. Living on the course, I’m out there on the 8th green chipping and putting. Putting the work in is something my wife (Tricia) instilled in my four years ago. Set a schedule. Whether it’s an hour day, work on your game.
Most memorable 2025 win: The Rocky Kelly Pro-Junior Tournament. I love playing with the juniors. I played really good at the Pro-Junior. They are the future. I happened to play great and they were rooting me on.
