Thomas Sennett, PGA Head Professional at Country Club of Pittsfield earned his first major Section Championship title with rounds of 73-69-142, 2 under par at the 2026 NENY PGA Stroke Play Championship. Sennett started out the day 2 shots back (73) from the first round leaders Kyle Kressler, Cedar View Golf Course and Chris Sanger, Red Hook Golf Club who finished at 1 under-71.After the first nine holes of the morning, Sennett cut into Sanger’s lead by carding 2 birdies on holes #5 and #8 to finish the front nine at 2 under, 34 to Sanger’s 1 under, 35. The early stretch of holes on the back nine, provided some momentum change for Sennett when he eagled the par 5, hole #10 and Sanger bogeyed holes #11 and #12 giving Sennett the lead by 2. Sennett gave a shot back with a bogey on the par 5, 13th hole but was able to play par golf to finish out and keep his lead to clinch the title.Sennet remarked, he didn’t check the leaderboard through the round and after holing out on the 18th green asked a playing competitor how he finished to a pleasant comment of “you won”!
Sanger held on for solo 2nd place with 71-73-144 followed by Bob Cain (Saratoga National GC) in 3rd place 74-73-147 and 4th place, Kyle Kressler (149).
