Riverside, Iowa – The Iowa PGA Junior and Pee Wee Tour had their first tournament of the season on April 18-19 at Ames Golf & Country Club and Veenker Memorial Golf Course. A wonderful start for the first Junior and Pee Wee Tour event that had 127 players signed up to participate. Thanks to Tess Goudy, PGA Junior Golf Director, Jacob Hesner, Junior Golf Coordinator and Blake Newell, Tournament Assistant, for administering the event. Thanks to the parents and junior golfers for playing in our Junior Tour Events.
The Iowa PGA Match Play Champion was Darin Fisher of William Penn University. The event was held on Monday, May 12 at Short Hills Country Club. Fisher won the Iowa PGA Senior Match Play by defeating Sean McCarty of Brown Deer Golf Club in the final match, 19 holes.
The Iowa PGA Match Play Champion was Davis Sutton of Cedar Rapids Country Club. The event was held on Tuesday, May 19 at Geneva Golf and Country Club. Sutton won the Iowa PGA Match Play by defeating Chad Proehl of Sugar Creek Golf Club in the final round, 5 and 4.
The Iowa PGA is in their 46th year of the Iowa PGA Junior Golf Academy at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course. Campers this month will have a blast learning from some of our wonderful men and women PGA Golf Professionals.
The Iowa Golf Council (IGC) is made up of the four major allied associations in Iowa – Iowa Golf Association, Iowa Chapter of the Golf Course Superintendents of America (GCSAA), the Tall Corn Chapter of the Club Managers Association (CMAA) and the Iowa PGA.
