For more than 30 years, Utah PGA Professionals have helped turn Utah high school golf state championships into one of the great traditions in Utah amateur sports. Each spring, Utah PGA Professionals and the Section office staff come together to host the UHSAA girls golf state championships across every classification, while also overseeing the 1A boys championship. What began years ago as an opportunity to support high school golf has grown into one of the defining partnerships in Utah amateur athletics. From 1A through 6A, these championships have become a celebration of competition, sportsmanship, and the growth of the game throughout the state.
Behind every state championship trophy presentation is a team of Utah PGA Professionals committed to creating first class experiences for student athletes, coaches, and families. Host PGA Professionals open their facilities, prepare championship conditions, and volunteer their time because they understand the impact these events have on young golfers. The Utah Section PGA office staff coordinates months of planning, communication, scoring, and logistics to ensure each championship week reflects the importance of the occasion. Their work often happens behind the scenes, but the result is visible every time players arrive at a championship venue and feel like they are part of something special.
The growth of girls high school golf in Utah mirrors the commitment shown by the Utah Section PGA. Participation numbers continue to rise, talent levels continue to improve, and state championship golf has become one of the most anticipated weeks of the spring sports calendar. Many former high school competitors have moved on to collegiate golf, national amateur events, and professional opportunities, all while carrying memories of competing in Utah PGA conducted championships. That continued investment in junior golf development remains one of the great success stories for both the UHSAA and the Utah Section PGA.
The June issue of Utah PGA Monthly digital magazine celebrates the spring season championships. For the Utah Section PGA, these events are about far more than scores and trophies. They represent service to the game and a commitment to growing golf in every corner of the state of Utah.
