It was a Texas-sized collaboration at Globe Life Field on the evening of May 27 in Arlington.
With the 2027 PGA Championship coming to Frisco, Texas, next May – the first men’s golf major championship held in North Texas in more than 60 years – it only felt fitting for PGA of America CEO Terry Clark to bring the Wanamaker Trophy to the home of the Texas Rangers to kick off the year ahead.
The Wanamaker Trophy got a firsthand look at what makes this upcoming host site of Dallas-Fort Worth so special for sports fans.
The Metroplex is home to numerous major league sports teams, including the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, Dallas Stars, Texas Rangers, Dallas Wings and FC Dallas. The opportunity to collaborate with area sports teams is a great opportunity for the PGA of America to capture new audiences from these fandoms, especially as Frisco readies to host the 2027 PGA Championship.
Adding to the occasion, Clark threw out the ceremonial first pitch before the Rangers took the field against the Houston Astros.
After a quick warmup, Clark stepped onto the mound with the coveted Wanamaker Trophy by his side and delivered the first pitch to Rangers coach Travis Jankowski.—Uzair Lodhi
The PGA of America Board of Directors has announced a Board leadership transition following the suspension of President Don Rea, PGA, for the remainder of his term, which concludes in November. Vice President Nathan Charnes, PGA, has been elevated to serve as Acting President, effective immediately.
The Board’s May 22 action followed a series of issues over time that, taken together, were determined to be detrimental to the Association.
Charnes will lead the Officers and Board of Directors in carrying out the Association’s governance responsibilities during this transition. Secretary Eric Eshleman, PGA, has been elevated to Acting Vice President and will continue to serve in a dual role as Vice President and Secretary until November, when the Association will hold its Officer elections.
These changes are limited to Board leadership and do not affect the Association’s executive leadership or day-to-day operations.
