We are happy to share that we have officially hired our newest PGA WORKS Fellow! Her name is Megan Dirr and she officially started with us in early June. Megan just graduated with her MBA from the University of Kentucky after earning her undergraduate degree in Marketing with a minor in Digital Media and Design. She is originally from Charlotte, NC and comes with an appreciation for the game of golf. She grew up with her dad watching and playing regularly, and has even attended a couple of PGA Championships. Now she plays every now and then, but is very excited to expand her skills and understanding of the business side of the industry. Megan has already been an incredible asset to our team and we cannot wait to see her continue to thrive through the end of the year!
Starting officially on July 1st, 2026, any PGA HOPE Graduate and one guest can play any Kentucky State Park Golf Course for a cart fee when they show their PGA HOPE Graduate card. This deal was made possible by our amazing PGA HOPE Ambassador, Bob O’Neill. Bob worked closely with State Representative Tom O’Dell Smith, who was more than willing to sponsor a bill, Kentucky HB 436. Once the PGA HOPE Program was explained to Tom, they decided that the PGA HOPE Graduates needed to be able to take a guest with them each time they played golf.
Representative Smith wrote the bill to read, “The department shall not impose on graduates of the PGA HOPE program any green fees or associated golf rates except fees for golf cart rental. To claim the fee and rate exemption provided by this paragraph, a PGA HOPE graduate shall present his or her valid PGA HOPE graduate card at the time of purchase, and the exemption shall extend to the PGA graduate and one (1) guest.”
The bill passed the House on February 12th, 2026 with a vote of 94-0. The bill moved to the Senate floor and passed on March 25th, 2026 with a vote of 38-0. The governor signed the bill on April 7th, 2026. This bill will add an Amendment to Kentucky Revised Statute (KRS) 148.021, to add the benefit for PGA HOPE Graduates and their guest.
There are 13 Kentucky State Parks that have golf courses spread throughout the Commonwealth. This benefit will be a reduction from $55 to $16 and is a huge win for all of our Patriots!
