On the beautiful evening of Sunday, June 14, 2026, the Northern California golf community gathered for an unforgettable night of celebration, reflection, and camaraderie. The North Ridge Country Club in Fair Oaks, CA, served as the perfect backdrop for the 2026 Northern California PGA Hall of Fame Dinner.
The event saw a fantastic turnout, packing the room with friends, family members, and fellow PGA Professionals who came together to honor three monumental figures in regional and national golf history. The NCPGA Hall of Fame Class of 2026 consists of three incredibly deserving inductees whose careers left an indelible mark on the sport and their communities: George Archer, PGA, Barry Brumfield, PGA MP, and Gus Jones, PGA.
The true heart of the evening lay in the storytelling and shared memories of the three legendary inductees. Each represents the pinnacle of dedication to the game of golf, mentorship, and community leadership.
A towering figure in Northern California golf history and the 1969 Masters Champion, the late George Archer’s legacy was met with a deeply moving tribute. The induction was gracefully accepted by his wife, Donna Archer. George was not just one of the game's greatest putters and a 13-time PGA TOUR winner; he was a proud product of the San Francisco Bay Area who always carried his NorCal roots with him. Donna’s speech beautifully reminded everyone in attendance of George’s quiet resilience, his love for the game, and his enduring spirit that continues to inspire young golfers across the region.
Achieving the prestigious status of PGA Master Professional is a rare feat, but Barry Brumfield’s career has been defined by that exact pursuit of excellence. Barry’s induction recognized decades of elite service, leadership, and operational brilliance within the section. As a mentor, Barry has guided countless aspiring PGA Professionals into successful careers of their own. His peers took turns thanking him for being a steady pillar of wisdom, a champion for the business of golf, and a consummate professional.
Few individuals embody the spirit of community impact and growing the game quite like Gus Jones. Throughout his distinguished career, Gus has been a champion for accessibility, junior golf advancement, and the elevate-as-you-climb mentality. His emotional acceptance speech highlighted the power of the golf community to change lives, reminding everyone in attendance that a PGA Professional’s true metric of success is measured by the lives they touch off the fairway.
The overarching theme of the evening was clear: these three men did not just play or teach the game—they shaped the culture of golf in Northern California.
The evening concluded with a standing ovation for the inductees and their families. It was a poignant reminder of why the NCPGA community remains so tightly knit—bound by a shared respect for the history of the game and the incredible individuals who dedicate their lives to steering it forward.
Congratulations to the NCPGA Hall of Fame Class of 2026! Your contributions will continue to inspire generations of golfers to come.
