Simmons finished the first round with a score of 6-under-par 64, leading by three strokes. In the next round, he shot 4-under-par 66, ending the tournament at 10-under-par 130, and winning by four strokes. Jordan DeBonis finished 6-under par to take second, and Ben Wood finished 5-under for third. Dominic Diaz, Luke Wilson, and Tee Brown tied for fourth, shooting 1-over par.
In the Senior Division, Neil Thompson had the lowest score of the division, with a 4-under-par 136. Troy Raybon finished 2-under par for second place, and Jeff Jordan in third place, shooting 1-under par. Lawrence Auer’s 1-over par and Rea Schuessler’s 8-over par rounded out the top five in the Senior Division.
We also had four players in the Super Senior Division, and Jerry Applegate’s 15-over-par 155 was enough to put him in first place. Ed Davis, Jon Samuelson, and Mark Brewer rounded out the Super Senior Division.
Thank you to our host PGA Professional, John Fountain, for a wonderful two days at Dothan Country Club. We also want to thank the Yamaha Golf Car Company team, Jeff Jungers and Shannon Caverly, for their continued support of the Section!

The Stroke Play Series returned in 2025, featuring six separate stroke play events contested from March to October. Each event is an 18-hole individual stroke play tournament where players earn points towards the season-ending Stroke Play Series Points List. The Top 15 players on the season-ending points list received a bonus payout thanks to our sponsorship from the PGA Tour.
With 228.26 points in the final Stroke Play Series Points List, Jordan DeBonis took home this year’s Stroke Play Series Championship. He won two of the six events he played in this year. Carter Goodwin took second with 182.25 points, and Christian Bosso rounded out the top three with 147.49 points.
Our first Stroke Play Series event of the year was held at NorthRiver Yacht Club in Tuscaloosa. Storms moving across the state throughout the day delayed play in the morning, but the sun shone as the tournament came to an end with Jake Greer's win. He finished 3-under-par 68.
The Ledges in Huntsville hosted the second Stroke Play Series event of the year. Carter Goodwin secured his win, finishing 4-under-par 67 as he sank seven birdies, three of which came on his final three holes.
Jordan DeBonis’ 6-under-par 66 was the low score of the day as he sank seven birdies to win at the third Stroke Play Series event of the year at Hoover Country Club. It was a fantastic day for golf, marking the halfway point of the Stroke Play Series.
The fourth Stroke Play Series event was hosted at Pensacola Country Club, where Jordan DeBonis finished 10-under-par 62, highlighted by 10 birdies and no bogeys, to win back-to-back Stroke Play Series events.
The fifth Stroke Play Series event saw another repeat winner as Carter Goodwin won his second Stroke Play Series event of the year at RTJ Golf Trail at Hampton Cove. His 5-under-par 67 was the low score of the day as he sank two birdies on his final two holes to win.
Our sixth and final Stroke Play Series event of the year concluded with Brad Story's first Section win. He shot a 5-under-par 66 to secure victory at Timberline Golf Club, where he made six birdies, including two on the final two holes.
