Fire on the Fairways: Low Scores and High Drama Across the Region
Ozarks 2-Person Best Ball: McCrae & Angus Cruise at Schifferdecker
The fairways of Schifferdecker Golf Course delivered ideal conditions for high-caliber golf, and the duo of Trey McCrae and Megan Angus took full advantage. Displaying remarkable synergy and precise course management, McCrae and Angus captured the Ozarks 2-Person Best Ball title with an impressive round of 63 (-8).

Senior-Junior Team Championship: Volker & Cozzitorto Stand Alone at Lionsgate
The Nicklaus Golf Club at Lionsgate hosted the Senior-Junior Team Championship with 45 players. Standing alone at the top of the leaderboard, host PGA Professional Brad Volker (Nicklaus GC at Lionsgate) teamed up with Clayton Cozzitorto (Sycamore Ridge) to deliver a masterclass in team golf. Showcasing flawless chemistry, the pair fired a blistering 61 (-11) to claim the title of 2026 Senior-Junior Champions.
Not far behind in a fierce battle for runner-up honors were two powerhouse pairings, both featuring a familiar face. Trey McCrae (Twin Hills G&CC) pulled off an extraordinary double-dip performance, securing a pair of clinic-worthy 62s (-10) alongside partners Robert Russell (Unity Village GC) and Matt Seitz (Prairie Dunes CC).

Pro-Scratch Championship: Ingram & Diederich IV Bring the Heat to The National
Mid-July in Kansas City always delivers scorching weather, but the heat wave outside was nothing compared to the absolute fire on the scorecards at The National Golf Club of Kansas City.
Nobody brought more firepower than host PGA Professional Nic Ingram (The National Golf Club) and his partner Greg Diederich IV. Controlling the top of the leaderboard for much of the afternoon, Ingram and Diederich IV put on a back-nine clinic for the ages, firing a tournament-defining 7-under-par 29 on the home stretch. Their spectacular finish brought them to 12-under par overall, officially clinching the title of 2026 Midwest PGA Pro-Scratch Team Champions.
While the team format produced low-scoring fireworks, the individual Professional Division tested true grit under the blazing Missouri sun.
1st Place: The scorching heat was no match for Robert Russell, who delivered a ball-striking masterclass. Russell carded a bogey-free back nine en route to a sizzling 5-under 67 to take top individual honors.
2nd Place: Sean Dougherty (Leawood, KS) mounted a furious back-nine charge of his own. Rolling in four birdies with zero mistakes on the back stretch, Dougherty claimed solo 2nd place with a strong 3-under 69.
The amateurs proved they were more than capable of rising to the occasion despite the sweltering heat, putting on a showcase of low-scoring brilliance. Leading the charge was Greg Diederich IV, who stayed ice-cold all day and capped off an unforgettable tournament by pouring in six birdies and 2 eagles to win the Amateur Division by two shots.

Midwest PGA Junior League
The Midwest PGA has officially wrapped up all four PGA Junior League Qualifiers! A huge congratulations goes out to all of the qualifying teams who earned their spot in the Section Championship, which will take place on August 12th at Paradise Pointe Golf Course.
We extend a heartfelt thank you to Horton Smith Golf Course, Heritage Park Golf Course, Emporia Golf Course, and Eagles Landing Golf Course for generously hosting these exciting events and supporting our young golfers.
Drive, Chip and Putt
All five Drive, Chip and Putt qualifiers are officially in the books, and our talented competitors are ready for their next step on the road to Augusta. Congratulations to every junior golfer advancing to the Subregional DCP, which will be held on August 5th at The National Golf Club of Kansas City.
We express our sincere gratitude to Twin Oaks Country Club, Emporia Golf Course, Tiffany Greens Golf Course, Ironhorse Golf Club, and Fred Arbanas Golf Course for serving as our gracious host facilities. Additionally, a massive shout-out goes to our incredible team of volunteers, whose countless hours of hard work ensured these events ran smoothly and successfully.
Midwest PGA Junior Tour
July was an action-packed month on the Midwest PGA Junior Tour, featuring nine tournaments across the Springfield and Flint Hills regions. More than 500 junior golfers competed fiercely for Player of the Year points, all aiming to secure an exclusive invitation to the year-end Invitational at Mountain Top Golf Course in Branson, Missouri.
Our junior tour would not be possible without the continued hospitality of our host golf courses and the tireless leadership of our On-Site Directors. We extend our deepest appreciation to Larry Ray, PGA, Dennis Johnsen, PGA, Brian Maloney, PGA, Dave Richardson, PGA, and Jan Sindt for their outstanding dedication to these young athletes throughout the month.
