Riverside, Iowa – Jeff Schmid of Brown Deer Golf Club won the Iowa Senior PGA Professional Championship Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Oakwood Country Club and will lead a total of Six Section PGA Professionals to compete on October 22-25, 2026, in the 38th Senior PGA Professional Championship. Schmid turned in a total score of 6-under-par 68-68=136 to capture the win.
John Panek was only playing for a spot in the national PGA Senior championship. As he was less than 50, he was not eligible for the championship prize purse or player of the year points.
Schmid is joined by Judd Gibb of Hanson’s Custom Golf, Sean McCarty of Brown Deer Golf Club, Darin Fisher of William Penn University and Chris Black of Hickory Grove Golf Course.
Jeff Schmid and Judd Gibb are both exempt into the Senior PPC and do not count towards our qualifying spots.
Alternates in order John Bermel of Pheasant Ridge Golf Course, Matt Erger of Airport National Golf Course, Chad Proehl of Sugar Creek Golf Club and Travis Hall of Thunder Hills Country Club.
The Super Senior Division was won by John Bermel of Pheasant Ridge Golf Course turned in a total score of 3-over-par 69-76=145 to capture the win of the Super Senior Division.

Riverside, Iowa – The Iowa PGA completed the 46th Annual Iowa PGA Junior Golf Academy on June 14-18. John Bermel, Head PGA Professional at Pheasant Ridge GC and Head Coach of the Men and Women’s golf teams at UNI, has been the lead instructor for the academy for over 28 years. The Iowa PGA Junior Golf Academy also utilizes the men and women PGA Professionals of the Iowa Section as instructors for the students.
The Iowa PGA marks the twelfth year of the National Drive, Chip and Putt program sponsored the Masters foundation, the USGA and The PGA of America. The Iowa Section along with all other 41 Sections participated. The Iowa PGA hosted 20 local qualifiers for the national program and 2 sub-regional sites.
