Reed Hughes, PGA, and Emlyn Aubrey, PGA, Qualify for National Senior Professional Championship at Laurel Country Club Laurel, MS – July 16, 2025 – The Laurel Country Club once again proved to be a formidable challenge as it hosted the Gulf States PGA Senior Professional Championship, where Reed Hughes, PGA, and Emlyn Aubrey, PGA, earned their spots in the National Senior Professional Championship, leading the field of 29 players. Reed Hughes, PGA, cemented his legacy by capturing the Senior Champion title for the seventh time with an impressive score of 74-77=151, securing his place as the first qualifier for the National Senior Professional Championship. Notably, Hughes has won at least one Gulf States PGA major championship in each of the last five decades, a remarkable testament to his enduring excellence in the sport. Emlyn Aubrey, PGA, finished as the second-place finisher in the senior championship with a score of 79-74=153, also advancing to the national event. The competition was fierce, with Jake Narro, PGA, earning the first alternate position for the National Championship with a score of 155, followed by Reg Adams, PGA, as the second alternate with a score of 156, and David Lee, PGA, as the third alternate with a score of 157. Additionally, Jerry Covich, PGA, claimed the title of Super Senior Champion with a score of 81-78=159, showcasing exceptional performance in the challenging conditions. “Laurel Country Club always delivers a true test of golf, and this year was no exception,” said Tournament Director Cody Clark, PGA. “The course was in phenomenal shape, and the added heat only heightened the challenge. We’re incredibly proud of Reed Hughes and Emlyn Aubrey for their outstanding performances and wish them the best at the National Senior Professional Championship.” We wish Reed and Emlyn the best of luck as they move on to the National Senior Professional Championship, set to take place in Port St. Lucie, Florida, from October 23-26, 2025. David Lee, PGA, was crowned Mississippi Chapter Senior Division Champion, while Reg Adams, PGA, finished as the low senior. Ramey secured the Mississippi Chapter Championship title after a six-hole playoff against Nic Ishee and Jon Howell, winning with a birdie. A field of 40 players competed; despite heavy rains leading up to the tournament, the golf course was in superb condition.
