Following Minjee Lee’s impressive victory at this year’s KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, the PGA of America is already starting prep work for the next major championship at PGA Frisco’s Fields Ranch East: the 2027 PGA Championship. The Dallas Morning News recently ran a story on what’s been learned from hosting the 2023 Senior PGA Championship and the 2025 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship on the course over the past three years, and how the PGA of America is collecting reactions from players and officials in preparation for the first PGA Championship to be played at the new Home of the PGA of America. The story discusses the decision to reverse the Fields Ranch East nines to make more room for spectators at the 18th hole, as well as architect Gil Hanse’s view that it takes seven to eight years for golf courses to fully mature.

A major champion from a different sport was very vocal about his golf game during his latest Grand Slam tennis run. Before falling to Jannik Sinner in last month’s Wimbledon finals, Carlos Alcaraz split time between the grass courts of Wimbledon and the grass of London’s golf courses during his title defense at the All England Lawn Club. Golf Magazine posted a story about how Alcaraz was using off days between matches to play golf, including matches with former tennis star Andy Murray, and could be seen practicing his golf swing in the moments before his Wimbledon matches. The story quotes Alcaraz as saying “We talked about … how good golf is for us. For our mind just to disconnect, just to turn off our minds, just to be better, you know, on court, just to be better in the tournaments. We can’t think 24 hours, seven days per week on tennis.” It’s a good reminder that even the best players in other sports look forward to playing golf for the challenge and the chance to mentally reset.
