The IEEE Microwave Theory and Technology Society (MTT-S) 2023 International Microwave Symposium (IMS) is hosting Women in Microwaves (WiM) events in San Diego, California. All IMS attendees in favor of WiM and engineering are cordially invited. This year’s IMS will feature two WiM events, the traditional WiM Networking Reception and a joint panel session with Young Professionals. The WIM’s mission is to inspire, engage, and advance women in microwaves, whether in industry, academia, or government.

At IMS2023, we will continue our traditional social cocktail party, which keeps growing every year (see Figure 1). The reception will be held on Tuesday, 13 June 2023, at the Hilton Bayfront Hotel from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., featuring social networking opportunities, hors d’oeuvres and beverages, games and more (see Figure 2). This year’s event will celebrate Women in Leadership in industry, academia, and government. The event will emphasize building a network for women who work in microwaves, RF, and other engineering leadership areas while offering an informal mentoring network with our many young professionals.
In addition, we will feature a joint panel session among WiM, WiE ILC, and Young Professionals. At the panel session, female tech leaders and entrepreneurs from big companies and start-ups will discuss what young professionals need to champion in the industry. The panelists will give examples of various career paths and answer your questions. The panel session will be on Thursday, 15 June 2023, starting at 2 p.m. at the Young Professionals Pavilion and will feature five WiM professional speakers.
More details on the reception and panel session, as well as the finalized speaker bios, can be found on the IMS2023 WiM website at https://ims-ieee.org/wim. Please check the site for the latest information.
The WiE ILC organizes highly interactive sessions on executive leadership, justice, equity, diversity and inclusion, program management for emerging technologies, and rethinking work, to name a few, designed to foster discussion and collaboration.
