On behalf of the IEEE Microwave Theory and Technology Society (MTT-S), we would like to invite all students to participate in the Student Design Competitions (SDCs) (see Figure 1). Seize the opportunity to challenge yourself and show your finest design skills in one of many microwave fields of choice. SDCs are a great space for exchanging ideas and networking as, traditionally, SDCs are hosted at the MTT-S International Microwave Symposium (IMS).
IMS2023 will take place in San Diego, California, and will see a variety of exciting competition topics covering a large frequency span, different technologies, and a complexity ranging from passive circuits to complete systems. The following competitions will take place:
To apply and to read the competition rules, visit the IMS website at https://ims-ieee.org/2023SDC. All the applications must be submitted by 24 May 2023.
The competing designs will be evaluated on Tuesday, 13 June 2023 at the premises of the IMS conference. At least one member of the team must be present in person during the evaluation. Please consult the U.S. visa policy in advance. Visa support letters can be obtained from the IMS organizers, following the procedure described at https://ims-ieee.org/visainformation. Please note that the SDC organizers do not assist the participants with bringing their designs to the conference venue nor to the United States, in general.
The winners of each competition will be awarded a cash prize sponsored by the MTT-S through the respective technical committee responsible for the SDCs. The winning teams will also be recognized at the Students Awards Luncheon on Thursday, 15 June 2023. Additionally, participants will be offered an opportunity to publish their winning designs in IEEE Microwave Magazine.
The questions regarding specific SDCs are best addressed by the corresponding SDC organizers. For general concerns and comments, please contact us at ims2023sdc@gmail.com. We look forward to seeing your designs!
