The country’s first PGA Golf Management University Program celebrated a milestone last fall when Ferris State University marked its 50th anniversary with an alumni event in October. More than 100 graduates of the university’s PGA Golf Management Program returned to the school’s campus in Big Rapids, Michigan, for a celebration that included golf and gatherings alongside current students, faculty and university leaders.
PGA of America Honorary President John Lindert and PGA of America Senior Director of Education and Organizational Development Dawes Marlatt attended the event, underscoring the national significance and reputation of the Ferris State program, the first of the country’s PGA Golf Management University Program schools to reach the half-century mark.
The 50th anniversary celebration raised more than $36,000 in scholarship funding, allowing for the establishment of two new endowed scholarships – including one in the name of longtime PGA of America Member Dave Kendall, who passed away shortly before the event – that will provide lasting financial support to students in the Ferris State program for years to come. The event also boosted alumni pride and strengthened engagement across generations of Ferris State PGA Golf Management Program graduates.
Ferris State graduate Glenn Pulice, the 2025 Michigan PGA Golf Professional of the Year and the PGA of America General Manager at Royal Oak (Michigan) Golf Center, was honored during the weekend with the Don Perne Distinguished Alumni Award. Pulice has attended all 41 alumni events since the Ferris State PGA Golf Management Program Alumni Association was started.
