FH Wadsworth launched in 2014 with an assortment of belts, bags and other full-grain leather goods that blend a traditional preppy look with “contemporary cool.” While making its way into about 500 golf shops over the last decade, the brand has also established a formidable tournaments business, supplying products for hundreds of events each year.
“We understand how busy golf professionals are these days,” says Jimmy Dominkewicz, FH Wadsworth’s Founder and CEO. “With that in mind, we strive to make our partnerships as turnkey as possible with a quick turnaround time of three- to four-week delivery on customized goods, complimentary next-day artwork and a vast array of products to choose from. Our ultimate goal is to create a positive customer experience that offers value from end to end.”
In terms of tournament products, FH Wadsworth presents a variety of customized leather goods and accessories at a range of price points – from $15 for custom leather luggage tags to $200 or more for the most premium leather weekender duffels. Other popular choices include on-course essentials like scorecard holders and valuables pouches, as well as lifestyle options like wine totes, dopp kits and belts. In addition, the company can create something completely unique if the club requests it.
“It’s been humbling to witness the trajectory of our company’s growth over the last few years,” Dominkewicz says. “We started out with a few dozen events annually and we’ve scaled to hundreds of events today thanks to a combination of strong sales representatives and word-of-mouth promotion. Oftentimes, someone will receive one of our gift items at an event and they’ll bring it back to their own club or personal network, creating organic partnership opportunities for FH Wadsworth.”
In September, The Club at Creighton Farms in Aldie, Virginia, used FH Wadsworth for its two-day member guest tournament, providing leather bookbags the first day and leather valuables pouches the second. The pieces were embossed with the club’s horse steeple logo, with two different colored bookbags (60 tan and 60 navy) and 12 styles of valuables pouches (10 pieces each) offered to the 120-player field on a first come, first serve basis.
“From start to finish, they delivered an exceptional experience. The custom bookbags and valuables pouches were not only high-quality, but also a huge hit with our participants – practical, stylish and memorable,” says PGA of America Director of Golf Robert Blumer. “FH Wadsworth’s attention to detail and commitment to excellence made a lasting impression, and we’re grateful for the way they elevated our event.”
Also in September, Squire Creek Country Club in Choudrant, Louisiana, called on FH Wadsworth to provide custom Montauk Duffels for its annual Derby Member Guest involving 176 players. The Squire Creek logo was used for member gifts and the Derby Member Guest logo for guests, and all bags had a custom inside liner bearing the Derby logo.
“The folks over at FH Wadsworth are top notch, and we are extremely grateful to call them a true partner of Squire Creek and the Derby Member Guest,” says PGA of America Head Professional Braxton Jenkins. “Our members and guests absolutely loved the custom Montauk that fits our Derby lifestyle. If you are looking for a one-of-a-kind gift for any type of event, FH Wadsworth is the way to go. Almost anything is possible with them.”
Jenkins’ goal is to do something unique for the Derby each year, with past gifts including custom blankets from Ace Winchester and fully custom wrist watches from Wright & Dotson.
“We want to provide something the player will actually want and use, rather than just another golf item,” Jenkins adds. “We try to never ‘force’ a tee gift on them, meaning giving them something they might have just gotten. With Squire Creek doing custom tee gifts you could only have gotten from playing in the Derby, I think that makes the gift and event even more special.”
Such success stories have helped spread the word about FH Wadsworth, helping build both the tournament and golf shop segments of its business.
“Golf professionals appreciate the value they receive, the range of product offerings and how quickly we can deliver our customized leather goods,” Dominkewicz adds. “The participants at events share that they’re blown away by the level of quality and customization of their gifts. It’s validating when we find out that a recipient was so thrilled by their FH Wadsworth gift that they’ve referred us to another club for other events.”
