The unofficial closing event took place in late November as the Section conducted its Annual Fall Meeting at Mohegan Sun. Among the many highlights were the recognition of Special Award recipients, the Frank Selva President’s Award, and Section Champions.
E.J. Altobello from Springfield Country Club was honored as the 2025 Connecticut Section PGA Golf Professional of the Year. Altobello and the other award recipients were celebrated on November 15 during a ceremony held at Springfield Country Club.
In a special video shown at the Fall Meeting, Altobello was lauded by his club members, staff, and fellow golf professionals for his years of high-level service and friendship.
This year's Frank Selva Presidents Award was shared by Tom Halsted of Sharon Country Club and Mark Moriarty, First Tee – Connecticut CEO/Executive Director.
Named in honor of Frank Selva, who is a Section Hall of Famer and Co-Founder of the Connecticut Section PGA Golf Foundation, this award recognizes individuals who have been strong supporters of both the section and Foundation.
Foundation President reported a record year of fundraising at the Foundation level. "Momentum and power" were the words he used to describe not only this year, but his optimism for the future.
Additional meeting highlights included a panel discussion with District 1 Director Michael Behand, open forum Q&A with PGA of America staff David Wilson, Brian Bain, and Chris Kulinski, and a powerful HOPE panel discussion with HOPE ambassadors Scott McAllister and Michael Slater and PGA HOPE Coach Nick Tamburini.
Board Members elected to serve a new three-year term were Josh Carney from Manchester Country Club and Alex Cavaliere from the Golf Center at Lyman Orchards.
