The Middle Atlantic Section (MAPGA) is proud to announce PGA of America Golf Professional John F. Madden, II as the newest inductee into the Middle Atlantic PGA Hall of Fame, becoming the 63rd member overall and the sole honoree in the Class of 2026.
Madden’s career as a PGA of America Member began in 1993 and reflects a lifetime commitment to advancing the game and profession of golf throughout the Middle Atlantic Section and beyond. The Hall of Fame distinction recognizes MAPGA Members whose careers exemplify leadership, service, sportsmanship, and dedication to the ideals of the PGA of America.
Madden is a highly decorated PGA Professional, earning MAPGA Golf Professional of the Year honors in 2016 and MAPGA Merchandiser of the Year (Private Club) in 2005. He previously served as Head Golf Professional at River Bend Golf & Country Club in Great Falls, Va., and is currently the Director of Golf at Royal Fox Country Club in St. Charles, Ill.
Beyond his accomplishments at the club level, Madden has been a steadfast leader within the PGA. He was elected as the 46th President of the MAPGA, serving from 2014–2015, and later represented the Section nationally as a PGA of America District Director. From 2019–2021, Madden served as District 10 Director, representing the Carolinas, Kentucky, and Middle Atlantic Sections on the PGA of America Board of Directors.
“John’s impact on the Middle Atlantic PGA and the PGA of America is lasting and significant,” said Lynne Hunter, President of the Middle Atlantic PGA. “His leadership, professionalism, and commitment to growing the game make him a truly deserving Hall of Fame honoree.”
Madden’s journey in golf began in 1989 following his graduation from Ohio University, where he competed on the Men’s Varsity Golf Team. He started his professional career at Kenwood Golf and Country Club in Bethesda, Md., his home club growing up, before moving to Westwood Country Club in Vienna, Va. There, he earned MAPGA Assistant PGA Professional of the Year honors in 1996. A competitive player as well, Madden competed on the Hooters Tour in 1997.
Originally from the Middle Atlantic Region, Madden and his wife, Julie, are parents to three adult children: Sean, Connor, and Kara, who is making her own mark in golf as the Kentucky PGA Section’s Foundation Coordinator, after serving on the MAPGA staff as a PGA WORKS Fellow from 2024–2025."
Madden now joins an esteemed group of MAPGA Hall of Fame members whose careers have shaped the Section and strengthened the profession of golf. His induction serves as a celebration not only of individual achievement, but of a career defined by service, leadership, and a deep respect for the game.
