Wilderness Country Club in Naples, Florida, doesn’t treat its annual Club Championship like any old tournament. It’s a celebration of the members, their stories and the unforgettable moments that unfold during competition.
That’s why the facility created the Club Championship Chronicles – a daily match recap emailed to the entire membership that transforms the leaderboard into a living narrative.
Each installment is written by the professional staff, including assistant professional Robbie Carpentier, who distributes and publishes the Chronicles. Sometimes it’s a hole-by-hole account, other times it goes shot by shot, bringing the drama, tension and triumph of each match to life. All nine flights in the championship are included, making sure every player has a chance to be recognized and remembered.
“It’s a simple thing, but the impact has been tremendous,” says Zane Brownrigg, Wilderness Country Club’s PGA of America Head Professional. “We’ve had members tell us they forwarded the recap of their match to their kids and grandkids. It’s become a tradition people look forward to – whether they’re playing or just following along.”
The Club Championship Chronicles give the entire club a front-row seat to the action. Even those who aren’t competing are drawn into the excitement – cheering for friends, reliving dramatic putts and enjoying the wit and detail woven into each story. Whether it’s describing a high-stakes par save or spotlighting a longtime friendship between finalists, the Chronicles capture what makes club golf so meaningful.
Just as important, it deepens the sense of community and pride. By elevating the everyday club event into something members can read, share and remember, the Wilderness staff has found a creative way to make members feel seen and celebrated.
“This Championship is about more than crowning the best players – it’s about creating lasting memories,” Brownrigg adds. “And by putting those memories into words, we’re honoring the spirit of the game and the people who make our club special.”
