Four Honored by Michigan Golf Hall of Fame The Michigan Golf Hall of Fame celebrated its 2025 induction class at Ferris State University’s Katke Golf Club on Sunday, October 26th. This year’s class features Michael Harris, a championship winner at the junior, collegiate, and professional levels; John Lindert, a PGA golf professional whose distinguished service includes serving as President of the PGA of America; and the late Roger Ostrander, a widely respected rules official. Their induction brings the Hall’s membership to 143. In addition, longtime Michigan Golf Hall of Fame administrator, Loretta Larkin received just the seventh Special Award in the Hall’s history for nearly three decades of dedicated service. Michael Harris Michael Harris built an impressive resume across junior, collegiate, and professional golf. As a two-time Michigan Junior Amateur champion and a standout at the University of Michigan, he captured eight collegiate titles, including the 1999 Big Ten Conference individual title. His professional career wins include the 2005 Canadian Tour Order of Merit, the Michigan Open title, and five Michigan PGA Tournament of Champions victories. He also competed in two U.S. Opens before injuries ended his playing career. John Lindert Since moving to Michigan in 1993, John has served as both chapter and section president for the Michigan PGA, actively worked with youth programs like the First Tee of Mid-Michigan, and rose through the national ranks to become President of the PGA of America in 2022—making him not only the third Michigander to hold the position, but the first PGA of America member in history to serve as a Board of Control appointee, District Director and President. He has won multiple service awards, including Michigan PGA’s Golf Professional of the Year and Player Development Awards, and is a member of the Michigan PGA Hall of Fame. Roger “Dr. O” Ostrander A beloved figure in Michigan golf, Dr. Ostrander combined precision and compassion as a rules official from local to international events. He volunteered for over two decades, officiating at Michigan PGA and GAM championships as well as six U.S. Opens and 14 U.S. Amateurs. His grandson Matthew, now a Ferris State PGM student, accepted the award on his behalf. Loretta Larkin For 29 years, Loretta has been the steady hand behind the scenes at the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame—managing records, finances, nominations, and the annual induction ceremony. Also serving as Director of Organizational and Human Resources for the Golf Association of Michigan, she has helped preserve the Hall’s legacy and ensure its continued growth. Founded in 1982, the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame honors players and contributors who have shaped the game across the state. Its collection of portraits and memorabilia at Katke Golf Club includes legends like Walter Hagen, Meg Mallon, and Kelly Robbins. For more information about current members, visit mghof.org. |
