The Central New York PGA is ushering in a fresh chapter for one of its annual traditions. This year, the Section has introduced a new format for its annual Holiday Party—announcing finalists in advance and revealing the winners during the highly anticipated Holiday Party on December 4 at Drumlins Country Club.
The update brings added excitement, visibility, and celebrating even more members to the outstanding PGA Professionals who continue to elevate the game across Central New York.
Honoring the dedication, leadership, and talent of PGA Professionals remains at the heart of the awards program. This year’s finalists represent a broad spectrum of roles—teachers, coaches, merchandisers, leaders, and mentors—each making a meaningful impact on their facilities and communities.

In addition to recognizing this year’s finalists, the Section will celebrate one of its most influential ambassadors of the game. Ruth Weydig, of Oneida Community Golf Club, will be inducted into the Central New York PGA Hall of Fame—a distinction that reflects her decades of unwavering service, mentorship, and dedication to both junior and adult player development.
Across her career, Weydig has built a legacy defined by passion and impact. Her achievements include:
Multiple-time CNYPGA Youth Player Development Award winner (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2022, 2023)
2013 CNYPGA Player Development Award recipient
Coach of back-to-back NJCAA National Champions (2015, 2016, 2017)
Coach of an NJCAA National Runner-Up
Attendance at the NJCAA DIII National Championships 12 times since 2010
Inducted into the VVS Wall of Distinction in 2016
US Kids Golf Top 50 Kids Coach – Honorable Mention (2016, 2020)
She has also been recognized as a finalist or nominee for numerous Section and National PGA awards, further highlighting her influence and leadership.
Weydig’s career philosophy has always been simple—and profound: be a tireless ambassador for the game and a constant supporter of PGA Professionals. Her Hall of Fame induction is a well-earned testament to that mission.
The new awards format—finalists in advance, winners unveiled at the Holiday Party—brings renewed excitement to the culmination of the season. On December 4, the Central New York PGA community will come together at Drumlins Country Club not only to celebrate the 2025 award recipients, but to honor the camaraderie, service, and passion that continues to strengthen the Section year after year.
