Lincoln, NE – After a century of growth—especially over the past 35 years—the Nebraska Section PGA has earned its reputation as one of the true gems of the PGA of America. But what comes next?
The game itself is evolving—how it’s played, where, when, and by whom. Graduates of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s PGA Golf Management (PGM) program will continue to provide the lifeblood for the Section, including its future leaders.
The Section’s territory, covering Nebraska and western Iowa, remains fertile ground for new courses—and, in turn, new opportunities for Section membership and leadership.
A Foundation for Continued Growth
“The footings for growth are in place,” said Greg Neujahr, PGA, of Champions Run, who chairs the Section’s 2025 Centennial Gala Committee. He’s joined in that optimism by Tony Pesavento, PGA, of Omaha Country Club—a charter inductee into the new Nebraska Section Hall of Fame—and Seth Scollard, PGA, the Section’s Assistant Executive Director.
Interest in golf has surged since the 2020 pandemic, when it became one of the few activities people could safely enjoy together while social distancing. Public awareness of the Section’s role has also increased, helped by the creation of the PGA REACH Nebraska Foundation.
Internal stability has been another key to success. Since 1988, the Section has had only two Executive Directors: Bruce Lubach, who helped set the table, and his successor, David Honnens.

Lincoln, NE – Nebraska Junior Golf welcomed more than 70 junior golfers and parents to its annual College Golf Night, held on the University of Nebraska–Lincoln campus in partnership with the UNL PGA Golf Management Program.
College Golf Night is designed to provide aspiring collegiate golfers and their families with clear, meaningful insight into golf at the next level—both as competitive athletes and as future professionals in the golf industry. The event helps students understand the many pathways available after high school and highlights key considerations as they prepare for important academic, athletic, and career decisions. The overarching goal is to equip young golfers with the information they need to confidently shape the next steps of their golf journey.
This year’s panel featured five outstanding individuals recognized for their expertise and leadership in the sport. Panelists included Nick Wanderscheid, Head Men’s & Women’s Golf Coach at Morningside University; Olivia Lovegrove, current member of the Husker Women’s Golf Team; Kevin Drew, PGA of America Career Consultant; Joe Canny, Director of the UNL PGA Golf Management Program; and Treve Florom, Director of Outreach Services at Education Quest Foundation. Together, they offered valuable perspectives on collegiate competition, player development, scholarship considerations, academic planning, and the diverse career opportunities available within the golf industry.
The evening concluded with an engaging Q&A session, giving junior golfers and parents the opportunity to ask individualized questions and build personal connections with the panel. Attendees left with a clearer understanding of what lies ahead—both on the course and in the classroom—and a renewed sense of excitement for the opportunities college golf can provide. The event once again affirmed Nebraska Junior Golf’s commitment to supporting the next generation of athletes as they take meaningful steps toward their future.
Lincoln, NE – The Nebraska Section PGA is proud to recognize Jon Moore, PGA, of Champions Run in Omaha as the Wilson Sporting Goods Game Ball recipient for the month of October. This honor is awarded monthly to a Section professional who exemplifies leadership, mentorship, and a dedication to growing the game of golf in Nebraska.
A PGA Professional since 2010, Moore is originally from Sidney, Nebraska, and a graduate of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. After spending eight summers and five winters in Vail, Colorado, he returned to Nebraska in 2015, joining the Field Club of Omaha. He later spent six years as the Head Golf Professional at Platteview Golf Club in Bellevue before becoming part of the Champions Run team.
“Being recognized by my peers is unexpected and truly an honor,” Moore said. “It means a lot to be chosen for this knowing that there are so many of my peers in the Section who are incredible at what they do.”
Moore has been deeply involved in the Nebraska PGA Mentorship Program, which is designed to support Associates and younger professionals pursuing careers in golf.
“Over my years in the golf business, I have been fortunate to have some amazing people to look up to and learn from,” he said. “I have always wanted to give back to younger professionals and associates looking to get into the industry. There is no better feeling than seeing someone achieve their goals, and getting the opportunity to be a part of that is priceless.”
Known for his leadership both at Champions Run and within Section governance, Moore credits his mentors and family for his motivation.
“I work closely with two of the best to ever do it, Greg and Dawn Neujahr. They are a daily reminder of what good leadership looks like. My wife has been so supportive over the years and has helped me become the best professional, husband, and father that I could possibly be,” he said.
