Incredible, amazing, historical moment. Those are only a few words to describe 2025 for Sandra Changkija, PGA – Assistant Professional at Lake Nona Golf & Country Club. Sandra was recognized for her accomplishments on the course as the 2025 Women’s PGA Professional Player of the Year at the 2026 PGA Show! This made her a two-time winner of this award (2022).
Sandra’s year included a history making victory at the 2025 Assistant PGA Professional Championship at PGA Golf Club – Dye Course! Her five-shot victory made her the first woman to win this event in its 49-year history. “Playing the Dye course for the first time at PGA Golf Club and winning at the end of the week was just so special,” said Sandra.
Reflecting on the year, she touched on some of the highlights. “I’m thrilled to win the 2025 Women’s PGA Professional Player of the Year for a second time. I had a great year in 2025 with a T2 finish at the PPC (North Florida PGA Professional Championship), winning another Section Championship, and claiming overall NFPGA Player of the Year honors.”
Coming up this is the year are two events that Sandra will be a part of: the PGA Professional Championship, hosted at Bandon Dunes, April 26th – 29th; the 4th Women’s PGA Cup, hosted at Carden Park, September 3rd – 5th. We look forward to cheering on the 2025 Women’s PGA Professional Player of the Year at these events!
A major is coming to the North Florida PGA! The 2026 Senior PGA Championship will be hosted at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, FL, April 13th – 19th.
The effort to promote the event is in full swing. As part of the promotional efforts, two North Florida PGA Members, Matt Borocz, PGA – General Manager at TPC Sawgrass and Rod Perry, PGA – Head Golf Professional at Crane Lakes Golf & Country Club, took part in a panel discussion at the 2026 PGA Show at the Orange County Convention Center. Hosted by Brian Crowell, "The New Home for the Senior PGA Championship: A Conversation with The Concession and North Florida PGA Members,” took place on January 21st. Matt and Rod fielded questions about the championship and what it means for the North Florida PGA to have the 2026 Senior PGA Championship hosted in the Section. Rod will also be playing in the event as part of the Corebridge Financial Team.
April is not too far away and it’s clear that excitement is growing. We look forward to having a major championship hosted in the Section, and wish Rod the best of luck as he competes against the best players in the world.
