The PGA Tour’s Aloha Swing began with the Sony Open. Many of the top tour players participated in what possibly may be the final Sony Open.
Chris Gotterup shot a 16 under par 264 total, for a two-shot victory in blustery conditions to capture the star studded event. Ryan Gerard shot a final round 65 to finish alone in second place.
Aloha Section PGA’s Corey Kozuma shot a 3 over total 143 over the first two rounds, but missed the cut which came at one under par.
Having played since 1965, this iconic tournament may be going away depending upon the sponsorship agreement and how the Tour will determine the 2027 season.
The Sentry Championship at the Kapalua Plantation Golf Course on the island of Maui which normally opens the season, was cancelled this year due to water issues. It is hopeful that this event will continue to be played next year.
The Aloha Swing will conclude later this month with the Champions Tour’s Mitsubishi Championship to be held at the beautiful Four Seasons Hualalai Resort Golf Course on the island of Hawaii. This premier event is a favorite for the players as well as for the spectators due to the spectacular scenery and abundance of the Aloha Spirit.
