Although Southern New England is under the grasp of winter weather, plans. For the upcoming season are heating up in the Connecticut Section.
Executive Director Dennis Dungee believes the 2026 season offers new and expanded opportunities to serve the membership, increase collaboration, and sharpen communication.
Stanley Golf Course and Race Brook Country Club kicked off the education slate with what is branded as “Round Table Discussions” that bring golf professionals and club leadership together to network and share operational successes and challenges.
The section recently conducted interviews for a new Tournament Manager position and hopes to announce a hire shortly. The position will primarily focus on the operation and oversight of the member tournament program.
The Connecticut Section PGA Foundation concluded a very successful 2025 and granted $66,000 in support of programs that supported youth golf, military veterans, diverse populations, and physically and intellectually challenged individuals.
New for 2026 the Foundation will be involved in conducting golf in school programs and creating opportunities for youth programming through parks and recreation departments in local communities.
The section will enter year two of its golf professional services agreement with the City of Hartford. Tasked with the management of Keney Park Golf Course, the section views the opportunity to provide employment opportunities for PGA members and Associates, while also creating a valuable revenue stream for the section.
