Fellow PGA of America Members, after wrapping up the 108th PGA of America Annual Meeting last month, I want to reach out to our more than 30,000 PGA of America Golf Professionals.
If you watched the close of the PGA Annual Meeting, you saw that I gave a challenge coin to all of the delegates, Section and national staff in attendance.
The coin represents the importance of unity and what we can accomplish by working together. I’d like to humbly ask you to accompany us on this journey.
We hope that you don’t take this lightly and will join us in promoting the industry, promoting the Association and promoting yourself. Promoting the industry by telling everyone how amazing and cool our great sport and profession is. Promoting the Association by explaining the role that we as PGA of America Golf Professionals play in it. And promoting yourself by taking advantage of the toolkits and maps that we as an Association provide to help you get to wherever you want to get to in this incredible career.
I want to thank John Lindert for a great tenure as our PGA of America President. It has been an honor and privilege serving our PGA of America Members and Association together. I look forward to the years ahead. John, your leadership and friendship mean so much to me.
I’d also like to congratulate Nathan Charnes on being elected PGA of America Vice President. For those who don’t know Nathan personally, he is a man founded on honesty and integrity. Those values will serve him well as he takes over the budget committee and the monitoring of our Association’s finances.
Finally, congratulations also go out to Eric Eshleman on his election as PGA of America Secretary. He is a proven leader and outstanding person who will be a great addition to the Officer core.
Nathan and Eric exemplify all the great qualities of PGA of America Professionals and it will be an honor to serve alongside them for the next two years.
These officer positions will never be about us, but about the more than 30,000 PGA of America Golf Professionals who will help us be the best leaders we can be.
In closing, in honor of Veterans Day last month – which took place just four days after I was elected PGA of America President – I’d like to thank the brave men and women who have served our country. I encourage all PGA of America Members to get involved with PGA HOPE and our HOPE 4 Heroes campaign. We have a lot of great programs that impact lives, but this one is helping to save them.
I’m honored to serve as your President, and I look forward to working with each one of you over the next two years.
Sincerely,
Don Rea Jr., PGA President, PGA of America
