ith the golf industry experiencing a significant boom, there has never been a better time for PGA of America Members and Associates to enhance their careers. One of the most impactful ways to do this is by attending the PGA Show in Orlando on Jan. 21–24, 2025.
This event attracts thousands of golf industry professionals, presenting a unique opportunity to accelerate career growth through networking, education and exposure to industry innovations. Whether you’ve never attended or you’re a Show veteran, here’s why you should go to the 2025 PGA Show with a focus on career advancement.
The PGA Show: A Gateway to Networking
Networking is the cornerstone of career advancement. This is true in many industries, but especially in the golf industry. The PGA Show offers an unparalleled platform for creating relationships with fellow industry professionals. Building connections with other PGA of America Professionals, potential future employers and brand representatives is essential as the golf industry continues to flourish. Meeting these individuals face-to-face and making an impression can lead to mentorships, future job opportunities and collaborations that are instrumental to your career.
Harnessing Educational Opportunities
Education is the foundation of career growth, and the PGA Show is brimming with learning opportunities. In short, the PGA Show is your best opportunity throughout the year to receive a wide variety of education (and PDR Credits) in one place. Focus on content and topics that most interest you or are relevant to your career path. Look for topics or speakers who aren’t readily available to you in your area. Many of these sessions will fill up, so plan now around what offerings are the best fit for you and where you are in your career, then get registered.
In addition to the education sessions off the Show floor, be sure to check out the speaker and panel schedule on the PGA of America Industry Stage as there are some invaluable stories shared. PGA of America Members will find complementary education sessions in the PGA Member Business Center on the 4th floor of the Orange County Convention Center in the Valencia Room, as well.
Engage With PGA Career Services at the Show
In the Member Business Center, you will also find the PGA Career Services area. Plan a meeting time with your Career Consultant ahead of the Show to ensure you can meet to discuss overall career planning, update your resume, review upcoming job opportunities or any other areas of your professional life. Even if you don’t have any current needs, it’s always a good idea to stop by and say hello — or meet your Career Consultant in person if you haven’t had the opportunity yet. PGA Career Services will also provide education seminars each day of the Show in the Member Business Center.
As you prepare for the PGA Show, remember that this is not just an event; it’s a catalyst for your career transformation. By actively networking, soaking up educational opportunities and utilizing PGA Career Services, you can unlock new pathways and redefine your professional journey. Don’t underestimate the power of a single conversation or a well-placed connection, as these interactions can lay the groundwork for exciting career advancements. Your career growth begins here; don’t just be part of the PGA Show, let the Show be a part of your career success story.
1. Prepare a Plan: Before you head to the Show, set clear networking goals. Identify key people or companies you want to connect with, and prepare thoughtful questions demonstrating your interest in the industry. Where will you see the people you want to see? How will you strike up a conversation? What do you want them to take away from your interaction? Can you contact them ahead of the Show to schedule a meeting?
2. Engage Actively: Approach booths and events with an open mind and be ready to introduce yourself confidently. Active participation in discussions will expand your network and leave a lasting impression. Sometimes you need to respect the “listen and learn” environment — but look for your spots to ask the right question or engage with those around you.
3. Use Current Contacts: Do your research now to find out what other golf professionals or sales reps currently in your network will also be at the Show. Can you get an invitation to brand-sponsored events? Are there additional opportunities put on by the PGA of America, PGA Magazine or the PGA Show you could attend? Utilizing existing connections and relationships to introduce you to the right individuals can elevate that first impression and your credibility.
4. Capitalize on Brand Representatives: As you browse the booths and brands found throughout the PGA Show Floor, be as curious about the people you meet and relationship opportunities as you are about the products they are representing. Is the local rep who covers your facility available? If they are tied up in a meeting, is there a time you can come back and introduce yourself? Making the right connections with sales reps and vendors can have long- lasting benefits for you and for the golf operation at your facility.
