It’s been yet another busy golf season across the Chicago District. With colder temperatures approaching, however, those welcome days on the course will become a distant memory. While winter’s true wrath may still be a few months out, it’s never too early to begin planning your offseason. From keeping your swing tuned up in a simulator to traveling to warm-weather locations for rounds, golfers in the Midwest know how to keep the game just within reach. As you soak up those last in-season rounds, be sure to familiarize yourself with a variety of offseason information, including score posting guidelines, membership renewal and offseason dates. See below for key highlights:
As a reminder, the active score posting season in the Chicago District is from March 15 to Nov. 14. The World Handicap System™ states, “A score is acceptable for handicap purposes if the round has been played on a golf course during its active season.” This means that scores from any round played at a club within the Chicago District after Nov. 14 and before March 15 are NOT to be posted for handicap purposes, regardless of how good the weather might be.
For those CDGA members who may play golf during the winter months in areas of the country that are considered “in season” (eg. Florida, Arizona, Southern California, etc.), scores from those rounds ARE to be posted for handicap purposes. Regardless of date or location, acceptable scores can be posted through your My CDGA Caddie, the My CDGA app or the GHIN® app.
