With the calendar flipping to October and the Ryder Cup in the rearview mirror, all attention will now shift to the Chicago District and Medinah Country Club. The next big global golf event, the 2026 Presidents Cup, will be contested at the historic venue, Sept. 24-27. The 16th iteration of the spectacle, which pits teams of U.S. and International players against one another across four days, is expected to be one of the grandest ever. Despite it still being a year away, the preparation and hype date back even farther.
A lot has happened between the 2020 announcement that Medinah would be the sixth venue in the United States to host the Presidents Cup and when general admission tickets went on sale last month. The venerable Course #3 underwent an extensive renovation following the 2019 BMW Championship. Team captains were announced earlier this year in Brandt Snedeker (U.S.) and Geoff Ogilvy (International), whose OCM Golf worked on and completed the renovation in late 2023. Throughout this long journey, the CDGA has been granted exclusive access to talk with those most involved in bringing this prestigious event to the Chicago District. See below for a chronological compilation of some of these unique pieces, both written and multimedia, and stay tuned over the course of the next year as more content is sure to come:
