Golf, like many industries, tends to be cyclical in a variety of ways. Numerous people and places gracing the pages of Chicago District Golfer in 2010 - Medinah Country Club, Hank Haney, Skokie Country Club (pictured), Vince India, Beverly Country Club and more - all have made their way back to the spotlight for one reason or another in recent years.

June
Similar to its current preparations for the 2026 Presidents Cup, Medinah Country Club found itself preparing for a major international event in 2010, with Course Three’s readying for the 2012 Ryder Cup taking center stage in this issue. Additionally, notable profiles in the edition included former Chicago Blackhawks broadcaster Pat Foley and then-LPGA Commissioner Mike Whan, a Naperville native who now heads the USGA.
July
In 2010, Glencoe’s Skokie Country Club was preparing to host the Western Amateur for the first time, as highlighted in this publication. The venerable event returns to the Golden Age layout in 2025 for the third time, with the middle stop coming in 2017.
August
Each CDGA championship season is highlighted by the CDGA and Illinois State Amateur Championships. These two events comprised the core of this late-summer read. Tommy Bliefnick’s victory over Vince India in the CDGA Amateur Championship final was recapped, while the State Am’s pending trip to Chicago’s Beverly Country Club was also spotlighted.
September
A footnote as CDGA Am runner-up in the August edition, the aforementioned India graced the cover in September following his State Amateur triumph at Beverly. Now a permanent resident of the Chicago District, notable instructor Hank Haney was at the peak of his international career in 2010, when he made a local pit-stop and joined Chicago District Golfer for an exclusive discussion.
November
As temperatures dropped in the Chicago District, this November edition provided warm thoughts for readers with destination pieces on the likes of Texas, Mexico and Florida. Typical year-end topics like Player of the Year, club champions and more also graced the pages.
