Much of the efforts in the golf industry in the 21st century have been aimed at redefining who the game is for. Such initiatives have been advanced by groups like the Chicago Golf Gals (CGG), a local nonprofit founded in the summer of 2023 by Ro Zamora.
Longing for a female golf community within the Chicago District, Zamora has turned her dream into a flourishing group of more than 1,000 women eager to provide further access to the game. As profiled in the February print edition of Chicago District Golfer (CLICK HERE TO READ), CGG fosters a comfortable space for women to empower one another in a game that has been male-dominant for decades. The group runs a variety of events such as golf leagues and clinics, trivia nights, fitness classes and networking opportunities to give women from all walks of life a sense of community.
“The biggest thing is that, no matter where you are in your golf journey, there is a place for you with Chicago Golf Gals,” said Zamora during a visit with CDGATV at Midwest Golf House last fall.
Zamora and other key members from CGG discuss what fuels the organization’s path forward in the exclusive video interview below.
