Three amateur club champions emerged victorious at the 2024 PGA National Club Championship on March 10 at Reynolds Lake Oconee in Greensboro, Georgia. Competition was shortened to 36 holes for the first time in the event’s history due to rain, with each securing division titles by a single stroke in tightly-contested competitions.
The Championship featured three Women’s Divisions: Open (any age), Senior (50-plus years old) and Legend (65-plus years old) competing over Reynolds Lake Oconee’s Great Waters, Oconee and National courses.
Jacquie Faldetta-Silver (pictured) of Manhattan Woods Golf Club in West Nyack, New York, finished at 6-over-par 150 to win the Women’s Open Division. Suzanne Ricard (Country Club of Florida, Boynton Beach, Florida) totaled 12-over-par 156 and claimed the Senior Women’s Division. Lynn Thompson (O’Bannon Creek Golf Club, Loveland, Ohio) took the Legend’s Division following a second-round 5-over-par 77 on Great Waters.
Faldetta-Silver recorded an opening-round 6-over-par 78 on the National Course to sit in third place, three strokes off the lead. She rebounded with a solid even-par 72 at Oconee on March 9, the low round of the Championship.
“I really just tried to stay within myself,” said Faldetta-Silver. “The conditions were pretty brutal. I didn’t get upset when a bad shot came my way. I knew that there was a good one right around the corner.”
