Registration is open for the third annual PGA Family Golf Championship to be held on the acclaimed courses at Whistling Straits and Blackwolf Run in Kohler, Wisconsin, Aug. 30–31. You can register families at PGA.org.
The PGA Family Golf Championship welcomes teams of two-four players who are biologically or legally related to compete in one of two divisions. The Amateur division is open to golfers of all skill levels, while the Professional division includes teams with a PGA of America Golf Professional or LPGA Golf Professional. In alignment with the American Development Model (ADM), competitors must be at least 10 years of age on Aug. 30, 2025.
“Golf brings people together, and PGA Family Golf brings families together; there is nothing better than spending time with the people you love, off the grid and on the grass,” says PGA of America President Don Rea Jr. “Our partners at Kohler Golf value family, and together we have created an unforgettable experience for families that blends fun and competition.
The event kicks off Friday, Aug. 29, with a round on the par-3 Baths Course, followed by an evening reception onsite. Two days of team scramble competition begins Saturday, Aug. 30, on the Meadow Valleys Course, followed by the final round on Sunday, Aug. 31, on the Irish Course.
The PGA of America’s Middle Atlantic Section has announced John F. Madden II, PGA, as the 63rd member of the MAPGA Hall of Fame, and the lone member of the Class of 2026.
The honor recognizes MAPGA Members for their lifetime dedication to the game and business of golf, while showcasing the ideals of sportsmanship, ethical behavior and the mission of the Section.
“On behalf of the Middle Atlantic PGA Section, we are honored and proud to celebrate John Madden as the 63rd member of the MAPGA Hall of Fame,” says Middle Atlantic PGA President Lynne Hunter, PGA. “As a highly accomplished PGA Professional, John has given so much to the MAPGA and to the PGA of America overall.”
Madden, who has been a PGA of America Member since 1993, has enjoyed a storied career in the Middle Atlantic Region, including his past position as the Head Golf Professional at River Bend Golf & Country Club in Great Falls, Virginia. Madden was named the 2016 MAPGA Golf Professional of the Year and the 2005 MAPGA Merchandiser of the Year for private facilities.
Dedicated to growing the game throughout his career, Madden was elected as the 46th MAPGA President and served from 2014-15. He also served the PGA of America at the national level, being elected to the Board of Directors as a District Director. John served the Carolinas, Kentucky and Middle Atlantic Sections as District 10 Director during a three-year term from 2019–21.
