Growing up in South Korea, Soo Ahn recalls begrudgingly waking up before daylight to go with his father to the golf course. Those early mornings morphed into playing in tournaments once his family moved to the United States, and Ahn quickly fell in love with the game. After a brief stint at Duke University, he tried his luck on various professional tours, ultimately stepping away from the game, and more so, the grind of life on the road. So what did he do next?
Grabbed an apron and quickly rose through the restaurant industry ranks, even helping earn Michelin stars along the way.
Ahn, 39, is now the executive chef at Adalina, a “refined and modern” Italian restaurant in downtown Chicago. As a CDGA member, Ahn has also been able to rekindle his love for golf and the competition that amateur events provide.
