Question: As the temperatures rise and the grass becomes green, golfers throughout the Chicago District will be heading to the links in no time. With the score-posting season beginning on March 15, CDGA members are likely preparing for the 2024 golf season. “Preparing” can mean many things depending on which golfer you ask. Some may have been hitting indoor golf simulators throughout the winter, while others may not have touched a club since October. Whichever slot you fall into, you’ll have to get ready for the season soon. Once you book the first tee time of the year, what’s the first thing you’re doing to prepare yourself for the golf course?
October Question: Every two years in late September, the Ryder Cup is the focal point of the golf world. This year was no different with the biannual event taking place in Rome, Italy at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club. Captain Luke Donald and the European team raced out to an early 4-0 lead in foursomes and never looked back, dispatching Zach Johnson and Team USA via a final score of 16.5 - 11.5. USA fans are already looking ahead to 2025 where the United States will host at Bethpage Black in New York. Many are speculating who the captain will be for Team USA, but no name has been announced yet. If you had to choose, who would you pick as Team USA’s captain for the 2025 Ryder Cup?
