Engineer IIIOverview:Oversee the Natural Gas Distribution Pipeline Integrity Management Program (DIMP) to ensure compliance with integrity of distribution pipelines. Maintain regulatory framework, standardize new work practices and methods, evaluate new materials, conduct materials failure analysis, update existing operation and maintenance and construction standards.
Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent required

Knowledge of federal, state pipeline safety regulations

Minimum five years in design, installation, inspection and maintenance of distribution pipelines, including supervision of work crews

2–4 years’ experience with databases, report writing and analysis

Proficiency in MS Office

Knowledge of GIS a plus

Engineer/SpecialistTasks:Primary responsibility of the position is to provide day to day operation support for monitoring measurement field equipment and gas quality using Flow Cal software and reviewing application exception. Provide technical expertise in measurement equipment (Ultra sonic meters, Coriolis meters, Orifice meters, Gas Chromatograph and fuel meters, H₂O, H₂S, O₂, CO₂ and Hydro Carbon Dew Point Analyzer) with capital project execution, installation, diagnostic, configuration and troubleshooting. This position engages to provide technical expertise on gas volume dispute with third-party billing volume data and internal LAUF (lost and unaccounted for) gas data. Selected candidate will act as back up support with measurement SOX compliance, witnessing and compression station fuel reporting. Selected candidate will act as a project engineer for gas measurement capital projects.
Requirements/Qualifications:

Four-year degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, chemical, fluid or related field) or the equivalent GAS measurement engineering experience.

Strong analytical skills, project management, good oral and written communication skills and customer relations skills. Demonstrate the ability to work well with others both inside and outside their own work. Must be willing and able to follow instructions, assist in the training of co-workers and cooperate with other employees.

The candidate must possess the ability and initiative to work with minimal supervision. This position includes office and field responsibilities for the field support of the Flow meters (Orifice, Ultra Sonic meter, Coriolis, Turbine and other associated metering), Transducers and Gas Chromatograph
on Capital project execution, testing, commissioning and troubleshooting.

The candidate is willing to learn new measurement software applications as technology change. Knowledge of Fluid/GAS AGA volume calculation, GAS characteristic, crystal reporting creation and basic electrical engineering is plus. Experience with strategic planning, project management and budgeting is helpful.

Frequent travel throughout the company’s gas facility areas (City Gates, Storage and Compression facilities) may be required.

Ability to research and determine design parameters for the most advanced technical problems/systems, processes, engineering and design issues.

Applicant requires creativity and ingenuity in the application of various design formula, gas measurement engineering theories likes, thermodynamics, pressure affect, speed of sound, gas velocity, gas quality impact on volume etc.

Familiarity with Michigan Gas Safety Code

Masters or other advanced degree, ideally in a technical or scientific field of study

Energy industry background that includes natural gas chemical component analysis, metering or similar

Professional Engineering (PE) license
