The producers of EastEnders had a brainwave and recently presented us with a spin-off, following Albert Square faves Kat and Alfie in RTE’s Redwater. This got us thinking, what other soap spin-offs would we tune in to watch? Interested? Step into our (box) office...
Coronation Street, TV3 – David and Gail skip off to Vegas
It often happens that the best chemistry comes from those who have a long history, and who better than mother and son duo David and Gail Platt? Picture the scene: The pair would hit the gambling tables, cross paths with Vegas gangsters, get into hot water (thanks to David no doubt), and have a dramatic showdown or two… Gail could even have her seventh wedding, with Elvis doing the service! And how about a Mike Tyson cameo à la The Hangover? We could see a two-part spin-off with Gail attempting to distance David from Shona, as he seems to be heading towards a tryst with the mother of the killer of his ex-girlfriend!
Fair City, RTE One – Katy and Emmet on the hunt
Okay, brace yourselves… So, we all know the BIG drama with Katy and Ciaran. He kidnapped her because her brother Emmet met his sister while travelling in Thailand, and left her in his rearview mirror (figuratively speaking) and then she disappeared. Now Katy is free and Ciaran is dead (hmm, won’t believe that until we see definite proof!) We think Katy and Emmet should leave Carrigstown for Thailand in the search for Ciaran’s sister! We could call It Far East City.
Emmerdale, TV3 – Rebecca on the run
Now that Rebecca has fled Emmerdale with her unborn baby, we would love to see what’s next. Where is she going to live? Why did we see no confirmation from any doctors or medical staff about her pregnancy in her final episode? Is the baby really Robert’s?
Will it be cute? Is it a good sleeper? So many questions! Speaking of Robert, could we please include a second wedding for him and Aaron since their last one was spoiled? That’s another spin-off.
You can keep track of all your REAL favourites mid-week on TV3 and RTE One (ch 103 & 101).
