LaBar Golf, a New Jersey-based construction company, has quickly risen to prominence as a national leader in golf course construction. Now making a strong mark in Texas, the company is showcasing its expertise through a series of marquee projects, a strategic partnership with the Texas Golf Association (TGA), and a continued push toward nationwide expansion.
Led by founder Rich LaBar, the company has built a reputation for top-tier craftsmanship through renovation, irrigation, and new construction projects at some of the nation’s most prestigious clubs, including the Bear’s Club, Muirfield Village Golf Club, Hudson National Golf Club, Merion Golf Club, Oakland Hills Country Club, Seminole Golf Club, Winged Foot Golf Club, Pinehurst Resort, and many more. With that reputation firmly established, the company is now positioned at the forefront of several high-profile initiatives in Texas, featuring projects that span both classic restorations and bold new developments, each helping to shape the future of the game in the southwest.
LaBar Golf’s work in Texas is just one chapter of a bigger story. The company recently planted new roots on the West Coast, opening an office to serve California, Arizona, Nevada, and Washington. The move reflects a growing demand for LaBar’s expertise nationwide, while maintaining a strong focus on regional projects, such as those in Texas.
As part of a landmark project, LaBar Golf is set to shape one of Texas’s most ambitious golf and sports destinations at Luling Sport. This ground-up project goes beyond course construction, delivering a championship-caliber layout for competitive play, cutting-edge practice and performance facilities, as well as thoughtfully integrated community, lifestyle, and hospitality features. Together, these elements reflect LaBar Golf’s vision of creating not just a course, but a premier destination that will elevate the golfing experience across Texas.
In North Texas, LaBar Golf has supported six major projects at Mira Vista Country Club, Brook Hollow Golf Club, Dallas Country Club, Dallas National Golf Club, Colonial Country Club, and Bent Tree Country Club, each shaping the golf landscape across the Dallas–Fort Worth area.
At Mira Vista, LaBar Golf is working alongside architect Andy Staples, ASGCA, to breathe new life into the Fort Worth private club. The project will feature full-course drainage upgrades to ensure turf health and year-round playability, new sod installation to revitalize course conditions following seasonal turf stress, and bunker repositioning, tee refinement, and infrastructure enhancements that blend aesthetic vision with strategic function.
“I couldn’t imagine this process with any other company,” stated Joseph Danton, Director of Agronomy at Mira Vista Country Club. “Over 50 weather days, greens washed out and re-sprigged, temperatures from 15 degrees to 105, sprigging acre after acre of native grass, navigating logistics through a tight neighborhood. I feel like we have been through it all over the past 10 months. Rich and his staff never wavered, always professional, always pushing and always fun to work with. It has been an amazing experience. I can truly say these professional relationships have turned into friendships and I couldn’t be prouder to have worked with such amazing people.”
At Brook Hollow Golf Club, LaBar Golf showcased how its expertise can preserve history while elevating play for the modern game. Working alongside architect Keith Foster, LaBar Golf recently completed the Dallas-based project, which preserved the historic character of the course while revitalizing key features. This included the famed “Great Hazard” on the par-5 15th, showcasing LaBar Golf’s unmatched respect for classic architecture and detail.
“LaBar completed our construction project in 2020, finishing under budget while providing valuable expertise in areas such as drainage and irrigation,” praised Chris Bonvie, General Manager of Brook Hollow. “The final result was world-class, thanks to the team's attention to detail and subsurface knowledge.”
At Dallas Country Club, the LaBar Golf team completed a full rebuild of tees, bunkers, and fairways in 2023, while Dallas National saw the installation of a state-of-the-art sub-air system to elevate course conditions. LaBar Golf is in the midst of a renovation and irrigation project at Bent Tree Country Club, covering both the course and its driving range.
Perhaps most notably, LaBar Golf launched a complete 18-hole renovation at Colonial, breaking ground the day after the club’s prestigious 2023 tournament. The updates were met with strong praise from the golf community at large.
“In 2023, Colonial Country Club embarked on a major renovation with an extremely tight and demanding timeline between our PGA TOUR events,” explained Rich McIntosh, Director of Agronomy. “The success of this project would not have been possible without Rich LaBar and his team at LaBar Golf. Their expertise and dedication made them an integral part of the process and they remain a valued partner of our club.”
LaBar Golf’s commitment to Texas extends beyond construction. Through a partnership with the Texas Golf Association, the company supports events and initiatives that foster player development, strengthen amateur competition, and expand access to the game statewide. This collaboration reflects LaBar Golf’s broader philosophy of investing in the sport at every level—from premier private clubs and destination builds to grassroots initiatives and junior programs.
In Texas and beyond, LaBar Golf remains dedicated to building the future of golf, one world-class course at a time.
