In terms of stature, the ten major amateur championships conducted by the Texas Golf Association and Legends Junior Tour are the most high-profile events on the annual calendars. These competitions have earned their eminent standing through the years with a list of iconic past champions, and the lineup of renowned venues hosting the 2026 majors underlines their significance.
From February through October, the TGA and LJT will be traveling across Texas staging another year of action-packed major championships, where the state’s leading amateur golfers will have the opportunity to compete and showcase their skills on challenging courses that will test every aspect of their games.
Within that window, this June will likely stand out as one of the biggest moments in time for the TGA and LJT, driven by the excitement of four majors being held during the month for the first time ever.
The unprecedented run begins with the 27th Huntington Bank Byron Nelson Junior at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas from June 2-4. After a brief pause, the intensity escalates with the three longest-running championships being contested back-to-back-to-back. The momentous three-week stretch kicks off with the 117th Texas Amateur presented by Hytera US to be held June 18-21 at Spanish Oaks Golf Club in Bee Cave, followed by the 105th Women’s Texas Amateur presented by Hytera US at The Nelson Golf & Sports Club’s TPC Las Colinas Course in Irving, scheduled for June 23-26. Closing out the month, the historic 100th edition of the Texas Junior Amateur presented by Edwin Watts Golf will be played June 29 - July 1 at Stonebriar Country Club in Frisco.
All three of the state championships are designated as a USGA Exemption Event, a mark of prestige that reflects the strength of competition and the championship pedigree of golf in Texas. The elevated status means the winners of the Texas Amateur, Women’s Texas Amateur, and Texas Junior Amateur Boys 15-18 Division and Girls 15-18 Division receive full exemptions into the U.S. Amateur, U.S. Women’s Amateur, U.S. Junior Amateur and U.S. Girls’ Junior Amateur, respectively.
The slate of major championships also includes the 12th Women’s Stroke Play at Bentwater Yacht & Country Club’s Miller Course in Montgomery (July 24-26), 51st Texas Four-Ball presented by Republic Aviation at Rockwall Golf & Athletic Club in Rockwall (Aug. 21-23), 89th Texas Senior Amateur presented by Republic Aviation at BraeBurn Country Club in Houston (Sept. 11-13), and 43rd Texas Mid-Amateur presented by Hytera US at Wichita Fall Country Club in Wichita Falls (Oct. 2-4).
The start of the 2026 major season is right around the corner and will begin with the LJT Girls’ Invitational, to be held Feb. 14-16 on the Apple Rock Course at Horseshoe Bay Resort in Horseshoe Bay. A month later, the top-ranked junior boys begin their major campaign with the LJT Texas Cup Invitational at Willow Brook Country Club in Tyler from March 16-18.
